The Wilson Center is now accepting applications for Research Assistant Internships for the Spring 2024 term. This unique opportunity allows students to contribute 12-15 hours of research assistance per week, working closely with experts in their field of study.
What Research Assistant Interns Do
As a Research Assistant, you’ll engage in in-depth academic analysis of today’s most pressing issues. This hands-on experience is invaluable for those looking to deepen their understanding of their field of study. Beyond research projects, interns have the chance to network with professionals, attend relevant events, and explore the intersection of research and public policy in Washington.

- Start Date: January 17, 2024
- Stipend: $500 per month
- Eligibility: Open to highly qualified undergraduates, recent graduates, or graduate students with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- International Students: Must hold a valid F-1 or J-1 visa and appropriate work authorization.
Activities and Responsibilities
Research Assistant interns collaborate with scholars at the Wilson Center, contributing to research, book writing, and public presentations. Tasks include information searches, proofreading, editing, bibliography compilation, and literature reviews. While some administrative work is involved, the focus is on developing a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently.

The Wilson Center is seeking Research Assistants for various projects, including those led by scholars like Melinda Baldwin-Fulford, Jennifer Eaglin, Haifeng Huang, Robert Jefferson, Natalie Koch, and Alyssa Park. Projects cover diverse topics ranging from U.S. peer review policies to Brazilian nuclear energy and global waste management.
