About Us:

CAD aims to protect the lives and well-being of frontline climate justice activists (CJAs) working under oppressive and dangerous conditions. CAD, therefore, provides emergency response and safety resources while building a support network inside the climate justice movement. CAD was founded in 2021 out of the climate justice movement’s need for safety support for Afghan CJAs and operates in a small team globally.

About the Role:

We seek a highly organized, detail-oriented and versatile Administrative and Finance Assistant to support our daily virtual office operations and financial processes by contributing to efficient financial management tasks. The successful candidate will be a pivotal part of our team, ensuring our administrative and financial systems run smoothly to support our emergency response and capacity building work. The ideal candidate will be passionate about climate justice, human rights and possess a solid commitment to our mission. This role requires financial administrative skills, the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, and a talent for supporting a dynamic and multicultural team in various time zones.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Support:

  • Perform general administrative tasks such as managing calendars, scheduling meetings and organizing travel arrangements for team members.
  • Support coordination of events and meetings, incl. logistics and attendee management.
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations for internal and external use.
  • Assist in the preparation and formatting of organizational documents
  • Attend weekly team meetings and project meetings.

Finance Support:

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial reports.
  • Handle basic bookkeeping tasks and update financial records, including expenses and receipts.
  • Support the processing of invoices and track payments and receivables. help in complying with financial regulations.
  • Cross check and submit expense reports for staff reimbursements.
  • Report to the Finance lead on a weekly basis.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in an administrative role; experience in finance or accounting is highly preferred
  • Openness to work across different time zones with an international team
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as a part of a multicultural team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and familiarity with financial software
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field is desirable
  • Fluency in English with a preference for those also fluent in German, Arabic, Spanish, French, Farsi or Pashto

  • Salary: 1500-2500$/month for 20 hours a week, considering experience, costs of health insurance and well-being support
  • 2 days of paid vacation/month and national holidays in country of residence
