International humanitarian organisation CESVI is inviting experienced protection professionals to apply for the position of Protection Specialist, offering the opportunity to work remotely or from the organisation’s headquarters while supporting multi-country humanitarian protection programmes.

The role focuses on strengthening General Protection, Child Protection, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) programming across Sudan, Myanmar, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe. Successful candidates will provide technical guidance, quality assurance, mentoring, and programme support to country teams, with frequent field missions to strengthen protection services and community-based interventions.

About the Protection Specialist Role

Reporting directly to the Global Protection Advisor, the Protection Specialist will provide technical leadership and managerial support across CESVI’s protection portfolio.

The position supports the design, implementation, and quality assurance of humanitarian protection programmes, with particular emphasis on:

• General Protection
• Child Protection
• Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
• Case Management
• Cash for Protection
• Psychosocial Support (PSS)
• Psychological First Aid (PFA)
• Community-Based Protection
• Referral Pathways

This is a multi-country position requiring close collaboration with country offices and humanitarian partners while ensuring programmes comply with international protection standards and best practices.

CESVI is Hiring a Protection Specialist: Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support country teams by:

Strengthening Protection Programming

• Supporting the design and implementation of integrated protection programmes
• Providing technical guidance on child protection and GBV interventions
• Promoting violence prevention and survivor-centred responses
• Supporting referral systems and psychosocial support services

Improving Case Management Systems

The Protection Specialist will:

• Strengthen case management processes
• Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Promote confidentiality and informed consent
• Support ethical information management and secure data handling

Developing Protection Tools and Standards

Working alongside the Global Protection Advisor, the successful candidate will:

• Develop and update protection guidelines
• Adapt operational tools
• Improve quality assurance mechanisms
• Strengthen programme implementation standards

Supporting Cash for Protection

Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing eligibility criteria
• Supporting risk analysis
• Improving documentation systems
• Monitoring beneficiary follow-up

Capacity Building

The role includes extensive mentoring responsibilities, including:

• Delivering technical training
• Coaching country teams
• Facilitating workshops
• Supporting protection assessments
• Conducting protection risk analyses

Promoting Integrated Humanitarian Programming

The Protection Specialist will help integrate protection across other humanitarian sectors, including:

• Health
• Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI)
• Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
• Livelihoods
• Climate Change programming

Coordination and Reporting

Additional responsibilities include:

• Coordinating with Protection Managers and Information Management teams
• Participating in humanitarian coordination forums
• Supporting proposal development
• Contributing to monitoring and evaluation frameworks
• Preparing donor reports and technical documentation
• Developing dashboards and thematic reports

CESVI is Hiring a Protection Specialist: Required Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, International Development, Gender Studies, or a related discipline
• At least three years of professional experience in humanitarian protection
• At least three years of experience working with an international NGO or United Nations agency in displacement, refugee, or emergency contexts
• Demonstrated experience in humanitarian case management involving GBV, child protection, or general protection
• Experience collaborating with government authorities and humanitarian coordination mechanisms
• Experience designing and delivering training and capacity-building activities
• Strong analytical, writing, and reporting skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in complex humanitarian environments

Language Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate excellent written and spoken proficiency in:

• English
• Spanish

Knowledge of additional official United Nations languages will be considered an advantage.
