UNESCO Abuja Office has opened a consultancy opportunity for an experienced evaluation team to conduct the Mid-Term Evaluation of its Education and Youth Empowerment in Nigeria (Second Phase) project.
The consultancy supports UNESCO’s ongoing efforts to strengthen education systems and build teacher capacity across Nigeria. Interested candidates are invited to submit proposals by 16 July 2026 at 23:59 (Abuja time).
Consultancy Opportunity to Evaluate Education Project in Nigeria
The consultancy focuses on the project titled “Education and Youth Empowerment in Nigeria (2nd Phase): Expand, Integrate and Strengthen Systems (EISS) to Build Teachers’ Capacity and Resilience.”
The selected evaluation team will assess the project’s implementation, progress, effectiveness, and overall performance at the midpoint of its delivery, providing recommendations to guide the remaining implementation period.
The evaluation is expected to generate evidence-based insights that will help strengthen project outcomes and improve education interventions supporting teachers and young people in Nigeria.
Focus of the Mid-Term Evaluation
The evaluation will examine the progress of the EISS project in achieving its objectives, particularly in strengthening education systems and improving teacher resilience.
The successful evaluation team will be expected to:
- Assess the project’s implementation progress.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of activities undertaken during the first phase of implementation.
- Review outcomes related to teacher capacity building.
- Identify challenges, lessons learned, and emerging opportunities.
- Provide practical recommendations to improve project performance during the remaining implementation period.
The findings will contribute to evidence-based decision-making and support continuous improvement of UNESCO’s education programming in Nigeria.
