UN Women is Hiring a Programme Analyst in Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action in Cairo (IPSA-9)
UN Women has announced a new international career opportunity for professionals working in humanitarian action, peacebuilding, and gender equality, with applications now open for the position of Programme Analyst, Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action (WPSHA) based in Cairo, Egypt.
The position, classified at the IPSA-9 level under the International Personnel Service Agreement framework, will support regional programmes focused on women’s participation in peacebuilding, humanitarian coordination, and crisis response across the Arab States region.
According to the vacancy announcement, the successful candidate will work closely with UN Women’s Regional Office for the Arab States (ROAS) and contribute to initiatives supported by the governments of Germany and Japan.

Key Responsibilities of the Role
The selected candidate will report to the Regional Crisis Response Specialist and work closely with the regional Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action Programme Specialist.
The role involves contributing to programme planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and partnership coordination within the regional WPSHA portfolio.
Among the major responsibilities listed in the vacancy announcement are:
- Supporting the development of programme strategies related to Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action
- Coordinating programme implementation activities, workshops, consultations, and regional events
- Supporting proposal reviews, partner assessments, and grant coordination processes

The Programme Analyst will also help organize regional advocacy campaigns, trainings, and knowledge-sharing activities related to women’s participation in peace processes and humanitarian response systems.
Focus on Regional Peacebuilding and Humanitarian Coordination
UN Women noted that the role is particularly important as humanitarian crises, displacement, and conflict continue to affect millions of people across the Arab States region.
The organization emphasized that women are often disproportionately impacted by conflict and humanitarian emergencies, yet remain underrepresented in peace negotiations and crisis response decision-making structures.
Through its Women, Peace and Security and Gender in Humanitarian Action programmes, UN Women aims to ensure that women’s voices and priorities are integrated into peacebuilding, humanitarian planning, recovery efforts, and resilience-building initiatives.
The selected candidate is expected to support regional coordination efforts involving governments, donors, civil society organizations, and United Nations agencies working in humanitarian and peacebuilding sectors.
Qualifications and Experience Required
UN Women stated that applicants must possess a master’s degree or equivalent in fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender studies, international development, or related disciplines.
Candidates with a first-level university degree combined with additional qualifying experience may also be considered.
The organization is seeking applicants with at least two years of progressively responsible experience in development programme implementation, project coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, or capacity-building activities.
Experience in Women, Peace and Security, Gender in Humanitarian Action, or humanitarian coordination is considered an advantage.
Applicants with experience working with government institutions, donors, or regional organizations are also encouraged to apply.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are required, along with proficiency in computer applications and web-based management systems. Familiarity with Oracle Cloud ERP systems is considered desirable.
Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Arabic and/or French is considered an added advantage.
