The African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD) has officially opened applications for its highly anticipated July–December 2026 Internship Programme, offering young African professionals an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in policy advocacy, economic justice, public finance, communications, and organizational management.
The six-month internship programme is designed for graduates who are passionate about advancing Africa’s development agenda and contributing to sustainable economic growth through policy reform, debt management, and development finance initiatives.
As Africa continues to navigate growing debt challenges, economic recovery efforts, climate-related pressures, and shifting global financial dynamics, AFRODAD is seeking talented and motivated interns to join its Pan-African team and contribute to evidence-based advocacy and research aimed at promoting accountable governance and sustainable development across the continent.

The African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD) is a leading Pan-African civil society organization working with national partners in 16 African countries and three regional economic blocs.

What Interns Will Learn
The programme offers practical experience and professional development opportunities that prepare participants for careers in development policy, research, advocacy, and civil society leadership.

Eligibility Requirements
AFRODAD is seeking highly motivated graduates with a strong interest in Africa’s development agenda, public finance, and policy advocacy.
Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:
- Economics
- Development Economics
- International Development
- International Relations
- Finance
- Law
- Human Resources
- Administration
- Communications
- Statistics
- Data Science
- Related disciplines
Candidates should also demonstrate:
- Strong analytical and written communication skills
- Excellent public speaking abilities
- Passion for advancing African perspectives on development and finance
- Commitment to professional growth and learning
- Ability to work independently and remotely when required
For applicants based in Cameroon, proficiency in both English and French is preferred.
Location and Working Arrangements
The internship programme will run for six months from July to December 2026.
Interns based in countries where AFRODAD maintains offices will be expected to work full-time from the office. Current office locations include:
- Harare, Zimbabwe
- Yaoundé, Cameroon
For successful applicants located outside these countries, AFRODAD will facilitate remote working arrangements and provide the necessary support to ensure effective participation.
However, interns are required to have:
- Their own laptop
- Reliable internet connectivity throughout the internship period
