The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Bangladesh has announced applications for its 2026 Communications Internship Programme, offering young Bangladeshi students and recent graduates an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in advocacy, digital communications, and youth-focused campaigns.
Based in Dhaka, the internship will support UNFPA Bangladesh’s Communication Unit in planning and implementing major awareness campaigns around International Youth Day (12 August) and the International Day of the Girl Child (11 October).
The opportunity is specifically designed to engage young people in development communication while strengthening UNFPA’s outreach on critical social issues affecting youth and women.
About the Internship
The Communications Internship will be conducted under the direct supervision of the Chief of Communication at UNFPA Bangladesh. The selected intern will work closely with the communications team to support campaigns, events, digital engagement initiatives, and youth-centered storytelling projects.
UNFPA noted that youth remain at the center of its programming in Bangladesh. Through this internship, the organization aims to strengthen its connection with young audiences by incorporating fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and digital creativity into its communication efforts.
A structured work plan will be developed for the selected intern, including learning objectives, performance milestones, and regular progress reviews to ensure a meaningful professional development experience.
Key Responsibilities
The Communications Intern will contribute to a variety of activities supporting advocacy and visibility campaigns.
Key duties include:
- Supporting the development and implementation of communication and visibility plans
- Drafting social media content and campaign messages
- Creating youth-centered storytelling products such as:
- Human-interest stories
- Photo stories
- Reels
- Short videos
- Coordinating with youth networks, influencers, schools, universities, and civil society organizations
- Assisting with campaign events, exhibitions, youth dialogues, and university activations
- Preparing communication materials including invitations, banners, visuals, and event branding materials
- Conducting photo and video documentation during events and field activities
- Supporting media outreach and media monitoring activities
- Tracking social media engagement and campaign performance metrics
- Identifying youth advocates and beneficiaries for storytelling initiatives
- Coordinating with photographers, videographers, designers, and vendors
- Assisting with post-event communication activities, including web stories and impact reports
The internship provides practical exposure to communication campaigns within a United Nations environment.

Eligibility Requirements
The internship is open exclusively to Bangladeshi nationals.
Applicants must meet one of the following educational criteria:
- Be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree programme and have completed at least one academic year
- Be enrolled in a master’s degree programme
- Have recently graduated from a university and begin the internship within one year of graduation
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee programme where the internship forms part of the training requirements
In addition, applicants should:
- Demonstrate a strong interest in international development
- Possess excellent written and spoken skills in both English and Bangla
- Show the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills
