Cherie Blair Foundation for Women Seeks Lead Researcher for Multi-Country Study on Women’s Access to Finance: Apply by 7 June 2026

The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women has announced a new consultancy opportunity for a Lead Researcher to design and deliver a major multi-country study examining women entrepreneurs’ access to finance across the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Vietnam.

Applications for the role close on 7 June 2026, with interviews scheduled for the week of 15 June 2026.

Research Initiative Focused on Women Entrepreneurs

The research project will generate comparative, mixed-methods evidence on the financial inclusion of women entrepreneurs, exploring barriers to accessing finance as well as the broader policy, market, and structural factors influencing their experiences.

The study will combine:

  • A standardized quantitative survey across three countries
  • Targeted qualitative research to contextualize findings
  • Cross-country comparative analysis

The final outputs will include a comprehensive research report and two country-specific briefings designed for policymakers, funders, financial institutions, and entrepreneurship ecosystem stakeholders.

Role of the Lead Researcher

The Lead Researcher will work closely with the Foundation’s Research & Impact team to oversee the full research cycle, including design, implementation, analysis, and dissemination.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing the overall research methodology
  • Developing survey instruments and qualitative tools
  • Coordinating and supervising data collection across countries
  • Managing translation, quality assurance, and fieldwork processes
  • Conducting data analysis and interpreting findings
  • Producing high-quality written outputs for non-academic audiences
  • Leading the preparation of comparative and country-specific reports

The role requires both technical research expertise and the ability to translate findings into accessible, policy-relevant insights.

International Scope and Mixed-Methods Design

The study spans three diverse national contexts: the UK, Mexico, and Vietnam, allowing for comparative insights into how different economic and policy environments shape women’s entrepreneurship and access to finance.

The research will adopt a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative survey data with qualitative interviews and contextual analysis to ensure robust and nuanced findings.

Required Experience and Expertise

The Foundation is seeking an experienced consultant or research organisation with:

  • Strong background in quantitative and qualitative research design
  • Proven experience delivering applied, policy-oriented research
  • Expertise in women’s entrepreneurship, gender studies, or financial inclusion
  • Experience working in low- and middle-income country contexts
  • Capacity to manage multi-country research teams
  • Ability to produce clear, accessible research for non-academic audiences

The organization also expects the successful applicant to assemble a capable international team with relevant language and regional expertise across the three study countries.

Contract Duration and Timeline

The consultancy is expected to begin in June 2026 and run for approximately 15 months, requiring sustained engagement throughout the research lifecycle, from design through to final reporting.

Application Requirements

Interested candidates must submit:

  • A detailed proposal outlining methodology, approach, and team structure
  • A financial proposal with full cost breakdown
  • CVs of the Lead Researcher and key team members
  • Two examples of relevant research outputs (such as reports, publications, or policy briefs)

Applications must be submitted via email to:
