About the Role

The Development Lead position is a senior-level remote role designed for a highly skilled fundraising and grants professional capable of managing complex donor portfolios while crafting compelling narratives that secure transformational funding.

Working closely with Medic’s Co-Executive Directors, the successful candidate will lead fundraising operations, oversee grants management systems, and strengthen relationships with foundations, donors, and bilateral partners across global health, digital innovation, AI, and open-source technology sectors.

This role combines strategic fundraising, proposal development, donor engagement, operational coordination, and storytelling expertise within a globally distributed work environment.

Core Responsibilities

Proposal Development and Fundraising

The Development Lead will play a central role in creating high-quality fundraising materials and maintaining an organised grants pipeline.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Writing grant proposals, concept notes, reports, and letters of inquiry
  • Translating technical health and technology work into compelling donor narratives
  • Managing proposal calendars and submission timelines
  • Coordinating with internal teams to gather programmatic and operational information
  • Maintaining a proposal and fundraising resource library
  • Monitoring trends in global health, digital public goods, and AI innovation funding

The role requires exceptional writing ability and the capacity to communicate complex systems-level work in accessible, persuasive language.

Grants and Portfolio Management

The Development Lead will oversee the full lifecycle of active grants and funding opportunities while ensuring operational excellence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Strong grant writing and storytelling capabilities
  • Experience managing grant compliance and donor reporting
  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within remote global teams

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with philanthropic and innovation-focused funders
  • Familiarity with global health, community health, or digital health systems
  • Experience using Salesforce or grants management tools

  • Willingness to travel internationally several times annually
