Florida State University (FSU) Announces Humanities Center Undergraduate Fellows Program 2026–2027
Florida State University (FSU) has opened applications for its newly established Humanities Center Undergraduate Fellows Program for the 2026–2027 academic year.
This initiative offers undergraduate students a unique opportunity to deepen their engagement with humanities research while collaborating with peers and faculty in a dynamic academic environment.
Program Overview
The Humanities Center will select up to fifteen undergraduate fellows for the upcoming academic year. Participants in the program will benefit from a range of academic and professional development opportunities designed to enhance their research and communication skills.
Fellows will:
- Participate in workshops where they present and refine their humanities research projects alongside fellow students and faculty mentors
- Showcase their work at the annual Undergraduate Humanities Symposium
- Engage in small-group discussions with visiting scholars and lecturers in the humanities
- Attend Humanities Center lectures and events
- Serve as ambassadors for the humanities across the FSU campus
Each selected fellow will receive a $1,000 stipend to support their research efforts.
Eligibility Requirements
The fellowship is open to rising juniors and seniors who will be enrolled and in residence at FSU’s Tallahassee campus during the 2026–2027 academic year.
Applicants must:
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5
- Plan to undertake a humanities-focused research project as part of their coursework
Eligible project types include, but are not limited to:
- Honors in the Major (HITM) projects
- Honors colloquium research
- Senior capstone projects
- Directed Individual Study (DIS) projects
- Scholarship in Practice coursework
- Upper-division writing courses
Application Process
Students interested in applying must submit their materials via email by September 16, 2026. A complete application includes:
- Research Proposal (300–500 words)
A detailed description of the proposed humanities project, including:- The nature of the project (e.g., thesis, research paper)
- The applicant’s academic department
- The faculty advisor who will supervise the work
- Unofficial Transcript
Demonstrating academic performance and eligibility - Personal Statement (100–150 words)
Explaining how participation in the fellowship would benefit the applicant - Optional Resume
While not required, a resume may strengthen the application in some cases
