The Clean Economy Bridge Research Program 2026 is a dynamic international initiative designed to empower young leaders to contribute to clean energy innovation and climate policy. Programme Overview
The programme supports a cohort of 12–15 young leaders (aged 18–30) to engage in collaborative, policy-relevant research addressing key challenges in the global clean energy transition.
Participants will:
- Conduct research on transatlantic clean economy cooperation
- Explore themes such as AI, energy systems, agriculture, and climate policy
- Engage in cross-border collaboration with peers from North America and Europe
- Access mentorship, training modules, and expert insights
This initiative forms part of a broader effort to accelerate clean energy transformation through innovation, dialogue, and international partnerships.
Research Focus Areas
Participants will work in thematic teams addressing critical issues in the clean economy.
Energy & Agriculture
- Investigates water competition between agriculture and AI data centres
- Focuses on water-stressed regions in the United States and Germany
- Aims to identify collaborative policy solutions for resource management
Renewable Energy & Grid Integration
- Explores how renewable energy can meet rising demand from AI-driven data centres
- Examines grid capacity challenges in regions such as PJM
- Develops technical and economic insights for scalable clean energy solutions
Policy Innovation & Just Transition
- Analyses transition strategies for fossil-fuel-dependent communities
- Draws lessons from Germany’s coal transition
- Evaluates reskilling programmes and broader socio-economic factors
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be aged between 18 and 30 years
- Demonstrate a connection to:
- Canada
- United States
- Germany
- Have an academic, professional, or personal interest in clean energy or climate policy
Eligible backgrounds include:
- Environmental science, engineering, or policy
- Economics, finance, or business
- International relations or political science
- AI and energy systems
- Trade, vocational, or alternative education pathways
