Key Responsibilities
Selected interns will assist with a range of activities, including:
- Supporting preparations for International Literacy Day 2026
- Assisting in managing the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes
- Contributing to the preparation of UNESCO’s report on the implementation of the UN General Assembly resolution on Literacy for Life: shaping future agendas (A/RES/79/151)
- Carrying out additional tasks related to youth and adult literacy initiatives
These responsibilities provide interns with exposure to global literacy campaigns, research processes, and international collaboration.
Internship Duration
The internship duration ranges from 3 to 6 months, taking place anytime between mid-May and December 2026. This flexible timeline allows candidates to align the internship with their academic schedules.
Eligibility Criteria
UNESCO welcomes applications from students and recent graduates who meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree (final year), Master’s degree, or PhD programme
- OR have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD within the last 12 months
- Academic background in education, international development, social sciences, or related fields
Language and Skills Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Excellent command of English and/or French (written and spoken)
- Knowledge of Spanish is considered an advantage
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
- Proficiency in computer systems and office-related software
