UN Women Audit Internship 2026 – New York, United States: $1000USD Monthly Stipend Available

The UN Women Internal Audit Internship offers an exciting opportunity for students and recent graduates with a passion for technology, data analytics, and governance to gain practical experience in internal audit and risk management within an international organization.

The internship is based in New York, United States, and will run for 3 to 6 months, providing interns with hands-on exposure to audit processes, business controls, and innovative technology-driven solutions.

This full-time internship allows participants to support UN Women’s Internal Audit Service (IAS), which provides independent assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls across Headquarters and field offices.

Interns will work under the guidance of the Chief of IAS and Internal Audit Specialists to support risk-based audits, develop technology-enabled audit tools, and assist in analyzing business processes.

The internship emphasizes the integration of Power BI dashboards, data analytics, and AI-supported testing approaches, providing a unique opportunity to combine technical skills with organizational governance and compliance.

Interns will also participate in designing data models, performing trend analyses, and developing visual narratives to enhance audit assurance work.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will contribute to UN Women’s internal audit processes by:

• Power BI Dashboard Development – Assist in designing, building, and validating a technology-driven Internal Audit Risk Assessment dashboard. Extract, clean, and transform data, create relationships, calculated columns, and measures, and ensure interactivity and visual consistency.
• Data Analytics and AI Tools – Support Internal Audit Specialists in developing data-driven techniques to enhance risk assessments, testing procedures, and audit coverage.
• Risk-Based Audits Support – Assist with audits on performance, governance, compliance, project management, and internal controls. Contribute to trend analyses, risk identification, and evaluation of business processes.
• Documentation and Manuals – Help prepare guidance materials for performing audits using Power BI and ensure proper documentation of tools, methodologies, and results.
• Collaboration – Work closely with the audit team, providing analytical support and feedback to improve internal audit practices and technology-enabled processes.

This role provides a comprehensive learning experience combining audit methodologies, technology-driven approaches, and organizational risk management practices.

Eligibility and Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Education – Enrolled in a graduate program or final year of a bachelor’s degree, or recently graduated (within two years). Backgrounds in data analytics, information systems, business, finance, or related fields are preferred.
• Skills – Proficiency in Power BI, data analytics, and Microsoft Office suite. Ability to develop AI-supported solutions and automate processes is desirable. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Languages – Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required.

Stipend and Benefits

Interns who are not receiving financial support from other sources, such as universities, will receive a stipend to partially subsidize basic living costs for the duration of the internship. This support allows interns to focus fully on skill development and practical experience.
