Overview

BBC Swahili, a trusted news source reaching 28 million weekly users, is recruiting a Senior Journalist Team Manager to lead daily editorial operations and drive its digital-first transformation. This permanent, full-time role is based in Nairobi.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage daily editorial operations and ensure editorial compliance across TV output
• Integrate digital-first commissioning into workflows and support long-term digital strategy
• Oversee production of graphics and visual storytelling elements
• Lead editorial decision-making and implement innovative approaches to coverage
• Collaborate with teams to shape engaging, high-quality journalism for TV, online and social platforms

Essential Requirements:
• Strong experience producing digital-first content, explainers and analysis
• Proven track record in breaking news, features, investigations and coverage of East, Central and Horn of Africa
• Experience managing teams in agile or remote environments
• Solid multimedia journalism background with data analytics expertise
• Ability to create compelling digital video content in Swahili (and English when needed)
• Deep understanding of BBC News editorial values and digital strategy
• Fluency in written and spoken Swahili, including understanding of dialects
