LM International (Läkarmissionen) is Seeking a Global Development Coordinator – Apply Before 7 November 2025

LM International (Läkarmissionen) is a Swedish global foundation established in 1958, dedicated to saving lives, empowering communities, and upholding every person’s right to a dignified life in a sustainable world. The organisation conducts long-term development cooperation and humanitarian assistance across approximately 20 countries, primarily in Africa and Latin America, with additional work in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

Its global footprint includes around 500 employees across a central office in Stockholm, mobilization offices in New York and Oslo, regional hubs in Panama City, Dubai and Nairobi, and eleven country offices in sub-Saharan Africa and Ukraine. The organisation is currently undergoing a significant growth phase and is seeking a Global Development Coordinator to strengthen its institutional partnerships, programme quality and strategic development priorities.

Purpose of the Position

The Global Development Coordinator plays a central role in advancing LM International’s diversification strategy with a particular focus on institutional donor relations, development cooperation, and peacebuilding. With a donor portfolio that includes multi-year and short-term funding from UN agencies, the EU, member states, OECD-DAC agencies, and a range of private donors, the coordinator will be responsible for nurturing and expanding these partnerships.

The position focuses strongly on Nordic institutional donors and contributes to the organisation’s methodological development and key approaches as outlined in the Global Strategy Roadmap 2030. It ensures high-quality planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting in close collaboration with country offices, grounded in locally led, power-aware partnerships and a commitment to child rights, climate action and sustainable development.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Coordination of the Global Development Team

  • Provide global coordination and quality assurance of development cooperation programming.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of operational plans aligned with Roadmap 2030.
  • Contribute to the annual operational plan and budgeting process, including updates to internal planning tools.
  • Serve as the direct line manager for Global Program Manager–Development Officers and global development consultants.

Institutional Donor Partnerships

  • Represent LM International in designated networks, meetings and external engagements including Sida annual consultations, CONCORD and other sector platforms.
  • Lead the strategic development and management of institutional donor partnerships at global level.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and manage alliances or consortia to increase impact and scale.
  • Act as Key Account Manager for UNDP, UNEP, UNFPA, UNESCO, ILO, WHO, the World Bank, WFP, EU INTPA, EU FPI, EEAS and other assigned donors.
  • Serve as Key Account Manager for Sida, Norad and Danida for development cooperation.
  • Ensure accurate and updated donor partner information in internal systems.

Resource Mobilisation

  • In collaboration with the Director of Global Programs, provide strategic leadership for resource mobilisation based on Roadmap 2030.
  • Lead programme design and grant writing processes, ensuring clarity on roles and quality standards.
  • Support scaling of ongoing programmes and development of new projects based on successful pilots and proof-of-concept models.
  • Deliver impactful stories and evidence from the field to support fundraising efforts.

Programme Coordination and Capacity Development

  • Lead design, implementation and oversight of the Sida CSO programme in collaboration with partners, country offices and regional hubs.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Danida aid and trade programme.
  • Strengthen programme follow-up, reporting and organisational learning within the development team.
  • Maintain strategic oversight of programme implementation, ensuring compliance with donor obligations and timelines.
  • Coordinate programme design and resource mobilisation for ongoing initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in global development, including senior management roles.
  • At least 5 years of experience cultivating and maintaining institutional donor partnerships.
  • Demonstrated expertise in programme design, multi-country programme management and donor reporting, including experience with Sida, Danida, Norad, USAID, EU and UN agencies.
  • Proven capacity for strong narrative writing.
  • Excellent facilitation, training and capacity-building skills.
  • Experience working in diverse international and multicultural environments.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • Excellent English proficiency; Swedish and French are advantageous. Other Scandinavian languages and Spanish are assets.

About the Position

The Global Development Coordinator reports to the Director of Global Programs and is based in Stockholm under a hybrid working arrangement. The role requires annual participation in staff meetings and major organisational events. LM International’s work is grounded in Christian core values and guided by a human rights-based approach, gender equality and poverty reduction.
