The University of Western Australia offers the Global Excellence Scholarship to high-achieving international students commencing studies in 2026.
This award provides significant tuition fee reductions for eligible undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs. Depending on academic performance, students may receive up to AUD 48,000 over four years for undergraduate degrees or up to AUD 24,000 over two years for postgraduate studies.
The final value is assessed upon submission of an academic transcript and is aligned with the university’s ATAR and WAM eligibility table.
Global Excellence Scholarship Values
Undergraduate students commencing in 2026 may receive:
• Up to AUD 48,000 over four years
• Up to AUD 36,000 over three years
• Annual award amounts ranging from AUD 6,000 to AUD 12,000 depending on ATAR
Postgraduate students commencing in 2026 may receive:
• Up to AUD 24,000 over two years
• Annual award amounts ranging from AUD 6,000 to AUD 12,000 depending on WAM

Global Excellence Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
General eligibility includes:
• Open to applicants from all countries
• Receipt of an offer for an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate program starting in 2026
• Minimum ATAR of 85.00 or minimum WAM of 65.00
• Students in approved International Academic Pathways must achieve a WAM equivalent above 75.00
Undergraduate Program Eligibility
Eligible applicants must apply for an approved undergraduate bachelor degree or Assured Pathway program.
Exclusions include:
• Assured Pathway to Medicine
• Assured Pathway to Dental Medicine
Postgraduate Program Eligibility
Applicants must apply for an eligible postgraduate coursework program.
Exclusions include:
• Juris Doctor
• Doctor of Medicine
• Doctor of Dental Medicine
• Doctor of Optometry
• UWA Micro-credentials
Combined Bachelor’s and Combined Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs
All combined programs are eligible. Most of these degrees span four years; however, certain Engineering combinations extend to five years. Eligible students in five-year programs may receive up to AUD 60,000 over the course of their studies, with annual amounts determined by WAM.
Global Excellence Scholarship Award Details
The scholarship is given as an annual tuition fee discount for the standard full-time duration of the student’s course as stated in their offer letter. Award amounts are determined by the applicant’s ATAR or WAM.
International Qualification Conversion
The university provides conversion tools for international qualifications, and other qualifications may be assessed individually.
How to Apply
No separate scholarship application is required. The Global Excellence Scholarship is automatically awarded to eligible students based on their ATAR or WAM at the time of admission.
