Call for Applications: Fully-Funded Chula-Global Library Visiting Fellowship Program 2026

The Office of Academic Resources at Chulalongkorn University (Chula) invites international scholars and library and information professionals to apply for the Chula-Global Library Visiting Fellowship Program 2026.

This two-month program in Bangkok is designed to support collaborative work in librarianship, information science, archival management, educational technology, scholarly communication, and Thai and Southeast Asian Studies.

Fellowship Tracks

Applicants may choose one of two tracks:
Track 1: Professional Practice for library and information professionals with at least three years of experience in operations, service innovation, or digital initiatives. Participants collaborate with OAR staff on short practical projects, with priority given to proposals involving digital preservation, research data management, multimedia or archival management, services for less dominant cultures, repository management, or data visualization and machine-learning applications.

Track 2: Research Fellowship for scholars with terminal degrees and a strong publication record in Thai Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, or related areas. Fellows develop co-authored academic papers or short research projects using the OAR’s collections, particularly those at the Thailand and ASEAN Information Center.

Program Objectives

• Expand global engagement with Thai and Southeast Asian scholarly resources

Fellowship Structure

Number of Fellowships: One
Duration: Two months
Start Dates: May 1–June 30, 2026 or June 1–July 31, 2026

Eligibility Requirements

All applicants must:
• Be non-Thai citizens
• Hold employment at a reputable institution throughout the fellowship
• Demonstrate adaptability in multicultural environments
• Show strong English proficiency
• Obtain approval from their home institution
• Be available for the full duration of the program

Track-Specific Criteria

Track 1: Professional Practice
• Minimum three years of professional experience
• Engagement in practical library operations or digital initiatives
• Interest in collaborative, service-oriented projects

Track 2: Scholars and Researchers
• Terminal degree in any discipline
• Consistent publication record in fields related to Thai or Southeast Asian Studies
• Commitment to producing a co-authored academic paper or short research study using OAR collections

Program Requirements

Collaborative Work: Fellows must complete a project or co-authored paper in partnership with OAR staff.
Presentation: Fellows present their work to OAR staff, students, and relevant academic or professional communities.
Final Report: A project completion report is required on the last day of the fellowship.

Financial Support

Stipend: 230,000 THB, subject to a 15 percent withholding tax
Coverage: Intended for visa fees, airfare, accommodation, insurance, and other expenses
Payment Schedule: Two installments, the first after arrival and the second upon completion of the program and final report

Application Materials

All materials must be in English and submitted as PDFs (maximum 10 MB each):
• Curriculum vitae with photo
• Project proposal of 2,000 to 5,000 words outlining objectives, deliverables, and a timeline
• Permission letter from home institution confirming employment and authorizing participation

Application Timeline

Application Deadline: December 31, 2025
Interview Announcement: January 16, 2026, on the OAR website
Interviews: January 26–February 13, conducted via Zoom
Final Results: February 27, 2026, posted on the OAR website

Additional Information

Visa: Fellows must obtain a Non-Immigrant Visa Category B and prepare documents for a work permit. OAR will provide supporting documentation.
Equipment: Fellows must bring their own laptop and necessary software.
Arrival: Fellows must report to OAR on the designated date for administrative processes, including work permit and bank account setup.
