AIDS 2026 Scholarships Now Open: Apply for Financial Support to Attend the Conference (Fully Funded to Rio De Jenairo)

The International AIDS Society (IAS) has officially opened scholarship applications for AIDS 2026, offering financial support to individuals who are working, volunteering, or studying in the field of HIV.

Anyone who will be at least 18 years old by 26 July 2026 is encouraged to apply for this global opportunity.

These scholarships aim to ensure diverse, equitable participation in the world’s leading HIV conference by supporting both in-person and virtual attendance.

Key Dates

  • Submissions open: 20 November 2025
  • Submission deadline: 27 January 2026, 23:59 CET
    Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
  • Notification of results: Early April 2026

Types of Financial Support Available

IAS offers two main categories of scholarships. Applicants may select their preferred attendance type and indicate the level of support they need.

1. In-Person Attendance Support

Includes:

  • Full in-person + virtual registration, providing access to:
    • All conference sessions
    • Satellite and poster discussions
    • The exhibition
    • The Global Village
    • Pre-conferences
    • Live-streamed sessions, recorded sessions, e-posters, and on-demand content
  • Return economy-class airfare from the nearest international airport
  • Accommodation (single room in a budget hotel) for the conference duration
  • Daily living allowance for each day of attendance

2. Virtual Attendance Support

Includes:

  • Online access to the full virtual conference programme
  • Live-streamed sessions, recordings, on-demand content
  • Access to e-posters and the virtual Global Village

All scholarship recipients—whether attending in-person or virtually—also receive two years of free IAS membership following the conference.

Who Gets Priority?

While the scholarship program is open to all eligible applicants, IAS prioritizes:

  • Abstract presenters, workshop facilitators, and Global Village organizers whose contributions were selected
  • Applicants from low- and middle-income countries
  • Key populations and people living with HIV
  • Young people and early-career investigators (under 35)
  • Individuals who have not previously received a scholarship to an International AIDS Conference
