Network Engagement Officer: A Role Driving Locally Led Humanitarian Action
This permanent role is based in London or within Start Network’s operational countries, including the DRC, Pakistan, India, Somalia, Guatemala, South Sudan, the Philippines, Kenya and Bangladesh.
The Network Engagement Officer position offers an opportunity to strengthen collaboration across a global humanitarian network committed to system-level change.
The salary ranges from £30,520 to £32,046 per annum, or a competitive locally benchmarked equivalent outside the UK. Applications close on 1 December 2025, with early submissions encouraged.

Purpose of the Network Engagement Officer Role
The Network Engagement Officer plays a key role in enabling the growth and connection of locally led humanitarian hubs. Hubs represent the heart of Start Network’s shift toward a decentralised, locally driven model. This position supports the emergence of an interconnected network of networks, ensuring hubs can collaborate effectively, learn from each other and strengthen their collective impact.
The officer enhances engagement within and between hubs by facilitating communication platforms for coordinators, members and leaders. By helping hubs extend their reach, the role contributes directly to increasing local leadership across humanitarian action.
Key Responsibilities
Strengthening Engagement
The Network Engagement Officer supports meaningful interactions between hub teams, Start Network staff and external stakeholders. This includes designing and maintaining engagement processes that enable shared learning and collective action.
Coordinating Hub-Related Events
The role involves planning, organising and coordinating events that bring together hub representatives, partners and collaborators. These events help build relationships, share insights and accelerate progress across regions.
Providing Operational Support
Throughout the hub development process, the officer offers ongoing operational and administrative support. This includes tracking progress, capturing best practices and documenting lessons learned to enhance organisational learning.
Managing Communication and Stakeholders
With a strong grounding in communications and engagement, the officer ensures that information flows effectively across the network. Stakeholder management and event coordination are central components of the role.
