Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) Africa is an organization dedicated to transforming education systems across the continent to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn effectively. Working in partnership with governments and key stakeholders, TaRL Africa supports the design and implementation of evidence-based education programs that improve foundational learning outcomes for children.
The organization’s mission is clear: to ensure that every child is taught at the right level, based on their learning needs, rather than solely by their age or grade level.
Since its inception, TaRL Africa has worked across multiple countries, collaborating with ministries of education and local partners to scale proven teaching practices. The approach has already impacted millions of children in countries such as Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Zambia, and Kenya, helping them acquire essential literacy and numeracy skills. Opportunities in West Africa
TaRL Africa is currently recruiting talented, mission-driven professionals to join its expanding teams, particularly in Nigeria. The organization is looking for individuals who are passionate about improving education outcomes and driving change through innovative, scalable solutions. Positions are available across multiple departments, including program delivery, training, partnerships, fundraising, and monitoring and evaluation. Successful candidates will contribute to TaRL Africa’s ongoing efforts to build effective education systems that respond to the unique challenges facing children in West Africa.
Current Open Positions
1. Country Management
- Deputy Country Director – Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire
The Deputy Country Director will play a key leadership role in overseeing program operations, managing partnerships, and ensuring the strategic alignment of TaRL Africa’s work within Côte d’Ivoire. The role requires strong experience in organizational leadership, stakeholder engagement, and program management. - Director, Programs – Nairobi, Kenya
Based in Nairobi, this role focuses on providing strategic oversight for program design, delivery, and scaling across multiple regions. The Director will guide teams to ensure quality implementation and measurable learning outcomes.
2. Program Delivery and Training
- Manager, Program Delivery and Training (Bilingual EN/FR) – Côte d’Ivoire
Responsible for supporting the training and mentoring of educators and facilitators, this manager will ensure that the TaRL methodology is effectively implemented across target regions. Bilingual proficiency in English and French is essential. - Regional Manager, Program Delivery and Training (Bilingual EN/FR) – West and Central Africa (Re-advertisement)
A remote position offering the opportunity to support programs across multiple countries, this role focuses on building the capacity of teams and partners to deliver impactful teaching interventions. - Assistant, Program Delivery and Training – Lagos State, Nigeria
This position supports program implementation at the state level, coordinating with education officials, schools, and communities to strengthen delivery and monitor progress.
3. Program Management and Partnerships (PMP)
- Coordinator, Government Engagement – Nigeria (Plot 118, Sector Centre A, Ahmadu Bello Way)
The coordinator will serve as a liaison between TaRL Africa and government partners, ensuring strong relationships and alignment with national education priorities. - Coordinator, Fundraising – Nigeria (Plot 118, Sector Centre A, Ahmadu Bello Way)
This role focuses on identifying new funding opportunities, preparing proposals, and managing donor relations to support the sustainability of TaRL Africa’s programs. - Coordinator, Program – Katsina State, Nigeria
Responsible for overseeing program implementation and partnerships in Katsina State, this role ensures effective collaboration with local education authorities and timely delivery of project goals. - Coordinator, Program – Niger State, Nigeria
Similar to the Katsina role, this coordinator will manage program execution and partnerships at the state level, maintaining strong communication with internal and external stakeholders. - Coordinator, Programme Management and Partnerships (PM&P) – Lagos State, Nigeria
This coordinator will work on project management, stakeholder coordination, and performance tracking to ensure that TaRL Africa’s initiatives meet their objectives in Lagos State. - Senior Country Manager – Zambia (Haile Selassie Ave, Lusaka)
The Senior Country Manager will oversee strategic operations in Zambia, supporting program growth, partnership development, and performance evaluation.
4. Program Measurement and Insights (PM&I)
- Assistant, Program Measurement and Insights – Lagos State, Nigeria
The PM&I Assistant will support data collection, analysis, and reporting to ensure that learning outcomes are accurately tracked and that evidence informs future programming.
Candidate Profile
TaRL Africa seeks individuals who demonstrate:

- Proven experience in project management, training, education, or development sectors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to teamwork, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work effectively in diverse, multicultural environments.
- Fluency in English, with French an added advantage for regional roles.
