Opportunity: Freelance Junior Travel Writers (Remote – India-Based | Paid | 5 Positions Available)

A unique opportunity has opened for passionate and emerging writers in India to collaborate on a paid freelance travel writing project focused on conscious, community-rooted, and culturally rich storytelling.
This opportunity is ideal for early-career writers with a strong interest in sustainable travel, human-centered narratives, wildlife, culture, or local communities.
The project is being led by Deeksha Sharma, an experienced storyteller and travel writer associated with Postcard Travel, a platform known for its focus on meaningful and mindful travel narratives that go beyond typical tourism content.
Position Overview
This is a freelance, remote position designed specifically for junior-level writers. Selected writers will contribute to a series of travel-focused stories that spotlight people, places, culture, nature, and values-based travel experiences across India and potentially beyond. Writers will be encouraged to approach their stories with depth, empathy, and an eye for the kind of travel that celebrates connection, sustainability, and transformation.
Number of Positions Available
The project is seeking to engage four to five junior freelance writers. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the hiring process will close as soon as all available positions are filled.
Ideal Candidate Profile
This opportunity is open to writers who meet the following criteria:
- Based in India with reliable access to the internet for remote collaboration.
- Demonstrated interest in travel, culture, sustainability, wildlife, or community-focused storytelling.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to convey engaging, empathetic, and well-researched stories.
- Previous writing experience is not strictly required; however, applicants must be able to share relevant writing samples that reflect their voice and storytelling potential.
- Ability to meet deadlines and respond to editorial feedback.
- A collaborative mindset and openness to learning.
Writers at the start of their careers or those seeking to build their writing portfolios are particularly encouraged to apply. This is an opportunity to gain professional writing experience while contributing to a platform that values authenticity, diversity, and meaningful narratives.
Project Scope
Writers will contribute short- to medium-length travel pieces under editorial guidance. Story formats may include:
- Narrative travel essays

Writers will work with guidance and mentorship, helping to shape the future of responsible storytelling.
