PathCare is Seeking a Data Capturer – Eugene Marais Pre-Laboratory Department, Pretoria – Apply Before 20 October 2025

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate, timely, and secure entry of patient and medical data into laboratory information systems (LIS), contributing directly to diagnostic quality and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The appointed Data Capturer will be responsible for:

  • Accurately capturing and verifying patient and test data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Maintaining high data entry accuracy and speed (minimum 35 words per minute with a high level of precision).
  • Identifying incomplete or inconsistent records and following up for corrections.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to data privacy, confidentiality, and security protocols.
  • Assisting with routine audits and quality assurance checks to maintain compliance standards.
  • Collaborating effectively with laboratory and administrative teams to facilitate efficient data flow and reporting.
  • Supporting the laboratory’s broader operational goals by ensuring data integrity and workflow efficiency.

Key Competency Requirements

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Educational Background:

  • A minimum of Grade 12 (Matric) qualification is required.

Technical and Professional Skills:

  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Typing proficiency of at least 35 words per minute with high accuracy.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology will be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy in data checking, and ability to maintain data confidentiality.
  • Proven administrative and data entry experience in a professional environment.

Behavioural and Interpersonal Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Fluency in English, with a good understanding of Afrikaans.
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative while maintaining team collaboration.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated customer focus and a passion for patient care and service quality.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct and alignment with PathCare’s core values.
  • Willingness to work shift hours between 06h00 and 20h00, including weekends and public holidays.

Performance and Integrity Requirements:

  • Applicants must have a proven track record of technical and behavioural competence relevant to the role.
  • All shortlisted candidates will undergo verification checks, which may include validation of identity documents, driver’s licenses, academic qualifications, and registration proof.
  • Credit and criminal record checks may also form part of the selection process.
