Conciliation Resources (CR) is an independent international organisation dedicated to preventing violence, resolving conflicts, and promoting peaceful and inclusive societies. Guided by the belief that building sustainable peace requires time and collaboration, CR provides practical support to communities affected by violent conflict while improving peacebuilding policies and practices worldwide.
With over 80 staff members based in the UK, Belgium, Australia, the Philippines, Kenya, Ethiopia, and the Central African Republic, CR works closely with more than 100 international and locally based partners. Together, they develop long-term, locally led solutions to conflict.
Role Purpose
The Information Technology (IT) Manager is responsible for leading CR’s global IT operations and infrastructure. Reporting to the COO, this position ensures that CR’s systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with organisational goals.
Although based in London, the IT Manager provides oversight for IT systems across CR’s global offices, ensuring consistent functionality even in areas with limited internet connectivity or electricity. Supported by an IT Officer and a part-time IT Consultant, the IT Manager focuses on strategic planning, infrastructure development, and project delivery while maintaining operational oversight where needed.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic IT Management
- Lead the development and implementation of CR’s IT strategy.
- Ensure integration, consistency, and interoperability across systems.
- Identify opportunities for digital transformation and process improvement.
- Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost efficiency.
- Monitor emerging technologies and recommend relevant innovations.
2. Infrastructure Management
- Oversee the design, maintenance, and security of IT infrastructure, including networks, storage, and communication systems.
- Ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance across global offices.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Manage vendor relationships and external IT service contracts.
3. Information and Knowledge Management
- Lead efforts to centralise institutional knowledge and data systems.
- Ensure information is structured, accessible, and compliant with organisational policies.
- Maintain up-to-date IT documentation, including architecture, workflows, and access controls.
- Contribute to best practices in organisational information management.
4. Leadership and Team Development
- Supervise and mentor the IT Officer, promoting a collaborative work environment.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively and monitor performance.
- Ensure the IT Officer has the tools and training to address user support needs.
- Foster continuous professional growth within the IT function.
5. Security and Compliance
- Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
- Oversee the annual Cyber Essentials Plus recertification process.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Manage and mitigate cybersecurity threats proactively.
6. Project Management
- Lead and deliver IT projects on time and within budget.
- Define project scope, objectives, and resource requirements.
- Monitor progress, manage risks, and report updates to stakeholders.
- Oversee system upgrades, cloud integration, and digital transformation initiatives.
7. Collaboration and Communication
- Engage with all departments to assess and meet their IT needs.
- Communicate effectively with the COO and key stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and accessible IT documentation.
- Foster a culture of open communication around technology adoption.
Person Specification
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of current IT systems, hardware, software, and emerging technologies.
- Awareness of cybersecurity risks, particularly in high-risk or low-connectivity regions.
- Knowledge of how AI tools can enhance organisational effectiveness and efficiency.
Experience
- Proven experience in IT strategy, planning, and budgeting.
- Experience maintaining organisational IT systems across multiple international locations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage IT in environments with limited infrastructure.
- Experience managing cybersecurity frameworks and responding to threats.
- Familiarity with compliance processes such as Cyber Essentials certification.
- Experience with Google Workspace and Mac systems is advantageous.

- Proven capacity to adapt systems and processes to diverse organisational needs.
- Project management expertise, including change management and user adoption.
