Role Overview
The Junior Associate, Public Policy position is designed for recent graduates seeking to develop expertise in public policy and advocacy. The role provides structured mentorship, exposure to diverse policy environments, and opportunities to engage directly with clients and stakeholders.
Working under the guidance of senior team members, the Junior Associate supports research, strategy formulation, and execution of advocacy and communication initiatives. The position requires intellectual curiosity, strong analytical skills, and a proactive attitude toward problem-solving and project management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research and Intelligence:
Research forms the foundation of Chase India’s advisory work. The Junior Associate will conduct extensive secondary research, gather intelligence, and occasionally coordinate with external research agencies. This includes analyzing policy developments, tracking parliamentary discussions, and compiling reports and briefs that inform advocacy strategies.
2. Stakeholder Identification and Outreach:
The role involves mapping key stakeholders, establishing contact with relevant government and industry representatives, and supporting outreach and partnership activities essential to policy engagement.
3. Programme and Project Execution:
Junior Associates assist in planning, coordinating, and monitoring client projects and advocacy programmes. They ensure timely delivery of outputs, maintain documentation, and track milestones for multiple initiatives.
4. Communications and Advocacy:
A crucial aspect of the role is supporting the design and implementation of communication strategies that complement policy goals. This includes drafting briefing notes, preparing client presentations, and contributing to advocacy materials.
5. Client Management and Deliverables:
The Junior Associate will work closely with senior staff to manage client expectations, prepare deliverables, and contribute to ideation and execution of strategic plans. As experience grows, the individual will take greater ownership of client interactions and develop independent relationships within the ecosystem.
6. New Business Development:
From time to time, the Junior Associate will assist in developing proposals and ideas for potential clients, gaining insight into business development and consulting processes.
Candidate Profile
This role suits a generalist eager to learn about diverse sectors and policy domains. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Economics, International Relations, Development Studies, Social Work, Rural Development, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
While no full-time experience is required, prior internships at consulting firms, think tanks, social enterprises, or private sector organizations are advantageous.
