UN Women Call for Proposals: Global Feminist Technology and Innovation Lab 2025

UN Women, through its Advocacy, Coalition Building and Transformative Feminist Action (ACT) to End Violence Against Women Programme, is seeking one or more qualified Responsible Parties to develop and implement a Global Feminist Technology and Innovation Lab.
This UN Women initiative aims to empower women’s rights organizations and activists by strengthening their capacities and fostering collaboration through innovative, tech-driven solutions that address violence against women and girls.
Purpose of the Global Feminist Technology and Innovation Lab
The proposed Lab will serve as a global platform to support feminist organizations and movements in leveraging technology and innovation to combat gender-based violence, particularly technology-facilitated violence against women and girls (TFVAWG). It is intended to enable structured learning, cross-sectoral collaboration, and capacity building, helping to advance transformative feminist action through digital and technological means.
Focus Areas
The Lab will concentrate on two core areas. First, enhancing capacities and collaboration to prevent and respond to technology-facilitated violence against women and girls (TFVAWG). Second, leveraging technological innovation to amplify advocacy efforts aimed at ending violence against women and girls (EVAWG). Within these areas, the Lab is expected to engage participants in learning, innovation, and knowledge exchange initiatives that are feminist in approach and grounded in the lived experiences of diverse women and marginalized groups.
Expected Contributions from Selected Partners
Responsible Parties selected under this call for proposals will be expected to design and deliver a global programme that facilitates deep engagement among women’s rights organizations, feminist networks, technologists, and other relevant stakeholders. This includes developing and conducting structured capacity-strengthening initiatives, fostering partnerships across sectors, and promoting scalable and sustainable feminist technology solutions. Proposed interventions should align with feminist principles, uphold human rights standards, and be adaptable to regional and local contexts.
Eligibility Criteria
This call is open to organizations with demonstrated experience in feminist movement-building, gender-based violence prevention and response, digital rights, technology for social good, or cross-sectoral capacity development.
Applicants should have a proven track record of working with women’s rights organizations and/or grassroots feminist activists, particularly those representing marginalized communities. The ability to operate in multilingual and multicultural environments will be considered an asset, as will the capacity to manage global or multi-regional projects.
Proposal Requirements
Interested organizations must submit a detailed proposal outlining their approach to designing and implementing the Lab. The proposal should include a strategic framework, key activities, expected outcomes, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, partnerships, risk mitigation strategies, and a detailed budget. Proposals must clearly demonstrate how the organization will ensure inclusivity, sustainability, and alignment with the values and objectives of UN Women’s ACT Programme.
Submission Deadline and Instructions
All proposals must be submitted by 15 October 2025. Applicants are encouraged to download and review the full Call for Proposals documents for comprehensive guidance on eligibility, submission requirements, and evaluation criteria.
The documents are available in both PDF and Word formats here
