Start Date: November 2025
Application Deadline: Rolling
Location: Remote (global applicants welcome)
Time Commitment: Approx. 8 hours/month

About Global Girl Project

Global Girl Project (GGP) is a grassroots feminist charity dedicated to mobilising marginalised girls within the Global Majority to become agents of social change. Established ten years ago in the United States as a registered 501(c)3 non-profit, GGP expanded its reach by registering in the United Kingdom in 2019 as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

Through partnerships with established community-based organisations, GGP delivers leadership programmes for girls aged 13 to 18. These initiatives equip girls with the skills, confidence, and networks to drive social action within their communities. GGP works intentionally from an anti-colonial and non-patriarchal framework, ensuring that leadership is grounded in the lived experiences of the regions it serves.

As the organisation enters a pivotal stage of growth, it seeks a new Board Trustee – Co-Chair to strengthen governance, expand networks, and champion feminist leadership at the highest level.

The Role

The Co-Chair will play a crucial role in shaping GGP’s strategic direction, ensuring effective governance, and supporting the CEO in delivering the organisation’s mission. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a values-driven, global organisation committed to challenging traditional power structures and amplifying girls’ voices worldwide.

The ideal candidate will bring previous board or senior governance experience, strong leadership skills, and deep alignment with feminist values. They will also be well-connected in international feminist networks and comfortable serving as an ambassador for GGP in diverse contexts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the CEO to set agendas, chair board meetings, and ensure effective decision-making.
  • Provide support, accountability, and mentorship to the CEO through regular check-ins.
  • Lead on trustee development, recruitment, and engagement.
  • Oversee compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, including Charity Commission requirements.
  • Monitor financial management and risk, ensuring sustainability and accountability.
  • Ensure delivery of GGP’s strategic plan and mission objectives.

Strategy and Oversight

  • Facilitate board participation in long-term strategy and decision-making.
  • Participate actively in the annual strategy meeting (in-person strongly encouraged).

Fundraising and Advocacy

  • Meet the annual “Give or Get” commitment of £1,200 GBP / $1,450 USD.
  • Actively promote GGP externally, opening doors to new partnerships and funding opportunities.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, ambassadors, and philanthropic partners, especially within feminist leadership and funding spaces.

Culture and Values

  • Model GGP’s values of collaboration, inclusivity, respect, and feminist leadership.
  • Foster an open and supportive board culture where diverse perspectives are valued.
  • Advocate for GGP’s mission with authenticity and integrity, ensuring girls’ voices remain central.

This voluntary role requires a minimum contribution of 8 hours per month and attendance at six virtual board meetings annually. The initial appointment is for three years, with the possibility of renewal.
