UNHCR 24 Associate Job Opportunities: A Global Call for Humanitarian Professionals

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has recently announced 24 job openings across various locations around the world. These opportunities span a wide range of functions and professional levels, offering positions in communications, protection, programme support, and logistics, among others.
With operations in over 130 countries, UNHCR continues to play a critical role in safeguarding the rights and well-being of millions of forcibly displaced individuals globally.
Current Open Positions
Among the newly listed vacancies is the Assistant Communications Officer role based in Yangon, Myanmar. Also in Myanmar, the agency is hiring a Programme Associate in Hpa-An and a Protection Associate in Sittwe. These roles are instrumental in supporting UNHCR’s operations in Southeast Asia, where the organization is actively responding to internal displacement and refugee protection needs.
In the Caribbean region, a Driver position is available in Elias Pina, Dominican Republic, along with a Senior Field Assistant role in Dajabon. These support roles are essential for day-to-day operations in field locations, facilitating the movement of personnel and goods, and contributing to the coordination of humanitarian aid delivery.
In Sudan, a Protection Associate is being recruited in Ed Daein, reflecting UNHCR’s ongoing efforts to provide protection services in conflict-affected regions. Over in Malaysia, the agency is hiring an Associate Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) Officer in Kuala Lumpur, who will focus on donor engagement and resource mobilization.
The Washington, D.C. office in the United States is currently offering two key roles: a Senior Communications Assistant (temporary position) and a Government Liaison Associate, both critical to strengthening advocacy and strategic partnerships with governments and other stakeholders.
In Africa, an RSD Associate position is available in Niamey, Niger, while a Development Officer post is open in Bangui, Central African Republic. In Libya, UNHCR is hiring an Interpreter Assistant to facilitate communication and enhance access to services for displaced populations.
Across the Middle East, the agency is recruiting a Durable Solutions Associate in Beirut, Lebanon, and an Associate Protection Officer (Accountability to Affected Populations) in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Both positions focus on long-term solutions and community engagement strategies.
In Europe, Moldova features two openings in Chisinau: Programme Associate and Senior Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Assistant, indicating ongoing efforts to support refugees from Ukraine and other vulnerable groups in the region.
Canada’s Toronto office is seeking a Senior Individual Giving Associate, who will play a pivotal role in donor development and fundraising. Meanwhile, two new posts in Ukraine—a Shelter Associate in Kharkiv and a Senior Information Management Associate in Kyiv—reflect continued support for internally displaced populations due to ongoing conflict.
A Project Associate position is also currently available in Ankara, Türkiye, as part of UNHCR’s regional response to refugee movements and integration.
