Position Overview

The Senior Business & Human Rights Adviser will play a key leadership role within GRC’s expanding Business and Human Rights (BHR) team. This position offers the opportunity to work across diverse projects involving labor rights, international legal frameworks, and corporate accountability in multiple jurisdictions. The role is ideal for a senior professional with a strong legal background and hands-on experience engaging with business, civil society, and government stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Coordination

  • Oversee and manage the implementation of multiple BHR projects with corporate and institutional clients across various countries.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of project milestones, coordinating across teams and workstreams.

Legal Advisory & Content Review

  • Lead the development and review of legal briefs relating to business-related human rights violations and investigations.
  • Provide expert legal guidance on relevant international law, including human rights, labor, and humanitarian legal frameworks.

Capacity Building & Training

  • Design and deliver interactive workshops, stakeholder events, and training sessions on business and human rights topics.
  • Support advocacy initiatives through briefing sessions, roundtables, and public-facing events.

Research, Policy & Strategy

  • Review and refine reports, policies, toolkits, and guidance documents created by the BHR team.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of GRC’s work with corporate clients, identifying opportunities for growth and impact.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Provide mentorship and day-to-day support to junior and mid-level team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and respectful team culture, promoting innovative approaches and practical problem-solving.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in business and human rights, with substantive exposure to international legal frameworks including human rights, criminal, and/or humanitarian law.
  • Advanced legal qualifications required: LLM is mandatory; LLB is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of international labor rights and their application in real-world business contexts.
  • Experience engaging with a broad range of stakeholders, including corporate clients, civil society organizations, and governmental institutions.

Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative, with minimal supervision.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; able to juggle multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.
  • Proven leadership abilities, including team coordination and cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Strategic thinker with a practical mindset, capable of breaking down complex strategies into executable plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are an asset.
  • Versatility and adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong administrative competencies and a proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
