Program Structure
Academic Component:
- The PhD candidate will conduct approximately 3.5 years of full-time research based at UNSW.
- Academic supervision will be finalized post-selection, with detailed project discussions scheduled once the candidate receives their student visa.
Industry Internship:
- A mandatory 6-month research placement with Zynthera’s Australia office will be undertaken during the PhD.
- This internship directly aligns with the doctoral research focus.
- Zynthera will provide housing during the internship period.
Funding and Benefits
Zynthera provides a comprehensive financial support package:
- Annual Tax-Free Stipend: AUD 40,000
- University Tuition Fees: Fully funded for the entire program
- Health Insurance: Fully covered for the duration of the PhD
- Relocation Allowance: Up to AUD 5,000
- Visa Application Support: Candidate to cover visa costs; Zynthera will provide application assistance and documentation support
In addition, all candidates will be required to attend a pre-departure online orientation, which introduces the research agenda, supervisor expectations, and Zynthera’s organizational policies.
Candidate Profile
Academic Background:
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in one or more of the following fields:
- Environmental Science
- Environmental Chemistry
- Water Resources Management
- Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Computer Science
- Remote Sensing
- Other closely related disciplines
Additional Requirements:
- Proficiency in English (a language test may be required during visa processing)
- Demonstrated research interest or experience in the proposed focus areas
- Willingness to engage in collaborative work with Zynthera during and after the PhD
- Strong motivation and a track record of academic or professional achievement
Top candidates may be considered for postdoctoral roles or permanent research positions within Zynthera upon successful completion of the PhD.
