CDC Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program (PHIFP) – 2026 Cohort

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) invites qualified applicants to apply for the 2026 cohort of the Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program (PHIFP). This is a competitive, two-year, full-time fellowship designed to train professionals in applying informatics principles and methods to improve public health practice and health outcomes.

PHIFP combines practical, hands-on experience with didactic training, supporting fellows to become leaders in public health informatics across federal, state, and local health departments, as well as other health-focused organizations.

About the Program

The PHIFP is a service-learning fellowship where participants actively engage in solving real-world public health problems using informatics. Through partnerships with health departments and public health institutions across the United States, fellows help design, develop, implement, and evaluate information systems that improve the detection, prevention, and control of diseases and other health conditions.

Fellows are placed at host sites—such as CDC headquarters in Atlanta, state or local health departments, or other public health institutions—and are supervised by experienced mentors throughout the program.
