Lead Impact: Become a State Health Ambassador with NPHN – Apply before 14 August 2025

The National Public Health Network (NPHN) is calling for passionate, civic-minded individuals to step forward as State Health Ambassadors in a nationwide initiative to strengthen community health systems, improve local outreach, and elevate public health awareness.

This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of a transformative effort where public health, leadership, and community action converge. The programme empowers selected ambassadors to act as catalysts for grassroots mobilisation and health equity, representing their respective states while working in alignment with national priorities.

What is the State Health Ambassador Programme?

The State Health Ambassador Programme is a dynamic initiative designed to equip individuals with the tools, support, and networks necessary to drive localised health engagement. Ambassadors will serve as the public face of NPHN in their states, supporting national strategies by facilitating community health projects and improving communication between citizens and the healthcare ecosystem.

Through this role, ambassadors will play a key part in advancing preventive health, encouraging community participation, and collecting valuable insights from the field—all of which will inform and strengthen the national public health response.

Key Responsibilities

Selected candidates will take on a leadership role tailored to drive maximum impact at the local level. Responsibilities include:

  • Representing the State: Ambassadors will serve as official NPHN liaisons, leading the charge on public health visibility and community connection in their state.
  • Mobilising Volunteers: Ambassadors will identify, recruit, and coordinate volunteers for various outreach campaigns and health awareness drives, fostering a culture of community ownership and responsiveness.
  • Coordinating Health Assessments: Working alongside NPHN’s central team, ambassadors will organise and oversee community health surveys, assessments, and local interventions to address urgent health issues.
  • Sharing Impact Stories: Through daily reports, media content, and direct testimonials, ambassadors will document and disseminate the real-world effects of their activities, promoting transparency and engagement.
  • Engaging Stakeholders: Ambassadors will build and sustain relationships with local health departments, community leaders, and civil society organisations, ensuring alignment with state-level public health efforts.

This role demands both strategic thinking and a hands-on approach, ideal for individuals who thrive in community-driven, fast-paced environments.

Who Should Apply?

NPHN is seeking motivated individuals who are:

  • Committed to public health, civic leadership, or social impact
  • Based in any U.S. state or territory and familiar with local community contexts
  • Experienced in volunteering, grassroots mobilisation, or community outreach
  • Comfortable with public engagement and storytelling across digital platforms
  • Capable of working independently while coordinating with a national support team

This opportunity is open to professionals, students, community organisers, and advocates alike—anyone ready to take initiative and lead positive change in their community.

Support and Resources

All ambassadors will receive:

  • Ongoing training and mentorship from NPHN’s leadership and programme teams
  • Communications toolkits and branding assets to support outreach efforts
  • Technical guidance and templates for conducting assessments and reporting
  • Opportunities for national recognition, networking, and future roles within the health advocacy ecosystem

Ambassadors will be backed by a committed national infrastructure that prioritises learning, support, and shared success.

Application Details

All applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Early submissions are strongly encouraged, as only a limited number of ambassador positions are available per state.
