Role Overview

The Manager – International Sustainability & Social Impact will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing sustainability and social impact strategies across McDonald’s International Operated Markets (IOM). Reporting to the Director of International Sustainability & Social Impact, this position supports internal alignment, cross-functional collaboration, and program delivery in areas like packaging, ESG, nutrition, community impact, and legislative compliance (e.g., CSRD, CS3D, PPWR).

The ideal candidate brings a balance of strategic thinking, communication skills, data literacy, and project management capabilities, with strong knowledge of sustainability in the restaurant or food industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Align regional and global strategies by collecting and leveraging market insights.
  • Lead internal communications and engagement initiatives for sustainability and social impact, including presentations, event planning, and market alignment meetings.
  • Project manage regional initiatives in response to new or emerging regulations, ensuring cohesive cross-market responses.
  • Provide tools and strategic guidance to embed sustainability into market planning processes.
  • Support collaboration with ESG, supply chain, restaurant operations, and marketing teams.
  • Guide markets in measuring local impact and using global data and KPIs for continuous improvement.
  • Act as a key liaison to global ESG reporting teams and advise on market-level reporting.
  • Be a thought partner to subject-matter experts and business segment leaders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in sustainability or social impact strategy, ideally within the corporate or consulting environment.
  • Familiarity with EU sustainability legislation (CSRD, CS3D, PPWR) and global ESG frameworks.
  • Proven ability to translate complex issues into simple, strategic communications and guidance.
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project management and cross-functional team leadership experience.
  • Data-literate and able to extract and interpret insights from impact metrics.
  • Knowledge of sustainability in the food service, FMCG, or restaurant sectors is highly valued.
