
The Narok County Public Service Board (NPSB) hereby announces a recruitment exercise for the position of Game Ranger within the Department of Tourism and Wildlife. This recruitment is scheduled to take place from 8th September 2025 to 18th September 2025. The exercise aims to fill one hundred and fifty (150) permanent and pensionable positions, providing a valuable opportunity for eligible candidates to serve in the wildlife conservation sector of Narok County.

- Salary Scale: Ksh 19,220 X 680 – 19,900 X 700 – 20,600 X 780 – 21,380 X 800 – 22,180 X 950 – 23,130 per month
Duties and Responsibilities
Selected candidates will be expected to undertake a variety of duties central to wildlife protection and tourism safety. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring the security and protection of wildlife by preventing poaching and other illegal activities.
- Safeguarding tourists visiting wildlife reserves and performing various ceremonial and parade duties.
- Managing entry points and conducting inquiries at security checkpoints.
- Investigating crimes related to wildlife, preserving crime scenes, and compiling related reports.
- Tracking and recovering illegal wildlife products.
- Collecting intelligence, interrogating suspects, and collaborating with law enforcement agencies.
- Compiling environmental and conservation crime statistics for internal use.
- Preparing nominal rolls and conducting patrols and escort duties within designated conservation areas.
- Participating in rescue operations and emergency wildlife response initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify for the recruitment exercise:
- Possession of a minimum Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) grade of D- (Minus).
- Must be a Kenyan citizen holding a valid National Identity Card.
- A clean criminal record with no pending charges or convictions.
- Possession of a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
- Physically and mentally fit to perform duties associated with the role.
- Age between 18 and 28 years.
- Height requirement: a minimum of 5 feet 4 inches for men and 5 feet 2 inches for women.
- Good hearing and clear vision are mandatory.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment or during the initial training phase.
- Must fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya regarding leadership and integrity, and adhere to Article 232 on the values and principles of public service.
Training
Successful candidates will undergo an intensive paramilitary training course lasting no less than six (6) months. This training is sponsored by the Narok County Government and aims to equip new recruits with the skills and discipline required for effective service in wildlife protection and law enforcement.
