Towards 100% Renewable Energy
Watts Up Africa is seeking bold, creative, and committed young changemakers from across the African continent and the African Diaspora to become the next Renewable Energy Youth Champions. This initiative is designed to empower youth leaders who are passionate about accelerating the transition to sustainable energy, advocating for climate justice, and driving community-led solutions.
The Watts Up Africa Youth Champions Program aims to elevate youth voices, foster collaboration, and support initiatives that move Africa and its global diaspora toward a 100% renewable energy future. Selected champions will engage in a network of likeminded peers, receive visibility and support for their work, and contribute to shaping energy futures rooted in justice and sustainability.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered:
- Age: Must be between 18 and 35 years old.
- Geography: Must be based in Africa or a member of the African Diaspora.
- Passion & Purpose: Must demonstrate a strong interest or existing involvement in one or more of the following areas:
- Renewable energy
- Climate justice
- Community action or advocacy
Program Benefits
Selected Renewable Energy Youth Champions will:
- Join a growing pan-African and diaspora community committed to a clean energy future
- Receive opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and peer learning
- Gain increased visibility for their initiatives through Watts Up Africa platforms
- Contribute to thought leadership and grassroots engagement around energy transition
- Participate in strategic events and advocacy campaigns that center youth voices in climate action
