About the Role
Google is seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer III to join its growing Google Cloud team in India. This role is suited for mid-level engineers with a solid foundation in software development who are ready to tackle complex problems, scale cutting-edge systems, and build infrastructure that impacts users across the globe.
As part of the Google Cloud team, this engineer will design, develop, and maintain software solutions that accelerate the digital transformation of businesses in over 200 countries. This opportunity will expose the successful candidate to projects critical to Google’s success, including distributed computing, secure networking, AI integration, and large-scale data storage systems.
The role offers flexibility in project assignments and encourages team members to explore cross-functional opportunities as Google Cloud continues to evolve. Engineers are expected to show initiative, technical leadership, and versatility while working across the full technology stack.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in software development using one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, Go, JavaScript), OR 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field.
- 2+ years of experience with data structures and algorithms, particularly in performance-critical environments.
- Familiarity with building accessible technologies or inclusive software solutions.
- Strong foundation in systems design, networking, and scalable cloud-based architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop reliable, scalable, and secure product or system code to support high-demand Google Cloud products.
- Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders, contributing to architecture decisions and technology selections.
- Conduct thorough reviews of code written by team members, offering constructive feedback in alignment with internal engineering standards and best practices.
- Write or contribute to internal documentation, training materials, and technical resources to facilitate team and user adoption.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the software stack, including backend, frontend, networking, and infrastructure.
- Analyze problems by examining system logs, understanding hardware interactions, and evaluating service performance metrics.
