The School for Moral Ambition (SMA) is seeking a Program Manager to lead the design, delivery, and growth of its flagship Harvard Moral Ambition Fellowship (HMAF). This role offers a rare opportunity to help shape how top university talent engages with the world’s most urgent challenges—from pandemic prevention to democratic integrity to ending factory farming.
About the School for Moral Ambition
Founded on a bold vision, SMA mobilizes the world’s brightest minds toward high-impact careers that address global issues. Rather than pursuing conventional paths to success in finance, consulting, or corporate law, SMA encourages students to redefine ambition in service of humanity’s greatest needs.
The Harvard Moral Ambition Fellowship is one of SMA’s signature initiatives—designed to shift values, build capacity, and launch meaningful career trajectories for Harvard students ready to pursue world-changing impact.
About the Role
As Program Manager, you’ll lead all aspects of the Harvard Moral Ambition Fellowship. Each year, the program will select a cohort of approximately 12 exceptional Harvard College juniors, offer them intensive training during the spring semester, and place them in impactful summer internships. You’ll be the architect behind a transformative journey—from recruitment to post-program support.
This is an ideal position for someone with experience in leadership development, fellowship design, student engagement, or mission-driven education—and who wants to use their skill set to cultivate a generation of purpose-driven changemakers.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Design & Execution: Lead the design, structure, and implementation of the fellowship—from curriculum development to cohort activities to post-program tracking.
- Recruitment & Selection: Build a rigorous and inclusive application process. Market the opportunity across Harvard, evaluate applicants, and conduct interviews.
- Community Building: Foster strong cohort dynamics and a lasting alumni network through workshops, events, and shared experiences.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with host organizations, expert speakers, mentors, and donors to create a supportive, inspiring environment for fellows.
- Workshops & Events: Plan and deliver events that combine logistics, learning, and community—online and in-person.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Collect data, evaluate outcomes, and implement improvements to enhance future cohorts.
- Resource Development: Create tools, readings, and guides to support fellows during and after the program.
Who Should Apply
SMA is looking for a mission-driven, experienced program leader with strong interpersonal skills and a deep belief in the power of purpose-driven careers.
Required Experience & Traits:
- 5+ years of experience in project or program management
- Demonstrated people management or leadership track record
- Experience in education, fellowships, or student programs
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
- A deep commitment to moral ambition and long-term global impact
- Comfort working in fast-paced, remote environments
- Ability to engage effectively with both students and high-level professionals
Nice-to-Have (Not Required):
- Familiarity with the Harvard ecosystem or similar academic institutions
- Based near Cambridge/Boston, MA (or able to travel to campus several times per month)
- Harvard undergraduate or graduate alumni
- A professional network in the social impact or nonprofit leadership space
