The Opportunity
This consultancy is designed for an individual or team with a strong track record in marketing and communications for grant-funded or nonprofit INGOs. The selected consultant will help ChildFund:
- Elevate and refine its brand narrative for institutional audiences
- Develop sector-specific materials and messaging that make a compelling case for funding
- Drive meaningful engagement with institutional stakeholders and potential grant partners
The consultant will operate within a flexible scope and budget (up to $20,000) with the potential for an extension, based on performance and evolving needs.
Scope of Work
The selected consultant will be expected to:
- Audit and assess current communication materials aimed at grantmakers and institutional partners
- Develop messaging strategies and brand positioning tailored to funding audiences in priority sectors
- Produce high-impact collateral, such as:
- Capability statements
- Sector briefs
- Grant-oriented pitch decks
- Web and digital content
- Help define ChildFund’s institutional voice—distinctive, confident, and aligned with its program impact
- Advise on strategic communication tactics to engage funders through multiple channels
Profile of the Ideal Consultant
ChildFund is seeking a communications professional who:
- Has proven experience positioning INGOs or similar organizations to secure grant and institutional funding
- Understands the language of donors—from multilateral agencies and foundations to CSR-focused corporations
- Can transform technical program data into compelling, funder-ready narratives
- Brings a results-driven approach with a focus on increasing visibility and engagement
- Can deliver creative, high-quality content within tight timelines and modest budgets
- Works independently, yet is highly collaborative with global teams
Required Qualifications
- Experience in marketing or communications roles for grant-funded nonprofits or INGOs
- Demonstrated storytelling ability across written and visual formats
- Understanding of donor motivations, priorities, and language
- A portfolio of relevant work that shows versatility and effectiveness
- Strong project management skills and professional fluency in English
