Call for Applications: 2025–2026 V20 Climate Prosperity Fellowship Program – Empowering Future Leaders of Climate-Vulnerable Nations
Overview
The V20 Climate Prosperity Fellowship Program is now accepting applications for the 2025–2026 cycle. Launched by the Vulnerable Twenty (V20) Group of Finance Ministers in partnership with Boston University’s Global Development Policy Center, the program was first introduced on the sidelines of the 2023 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Marrakech, Morocco.
The Fellowship is a key initiative in the V20’s broader effort to accelerate climate-resilient economic transformation and to equip the next generation of climate finance leaders from climate-vulnerable economies.
Program Objectives
The V20 Climate Prosperity Fellowship Program is designed to build technical expertise and leadership capacity among professionals from V20 member countries. Fellows will engage with leading global experts to explore solutions that enable their countries to design and implement Climate Prosperity Plans (CPPs) — nationally determined strategies to achieve low-carbon, climate-resilient, and economically inclusive development.
The fellowship supports the V20’s vision of a future where vulnerable economies are not just surviving but thriving — where climate action drives economic renewal and resilience. Through this initiative, fellows will gain the tools and knowledge needed to influence domestic policy, attract climate-aligned investments, and help reform the global financial system to better serve the needs of frontline nations.
Key Learning Areas
The Fellowship focuses on five core areas:
- Climate Prosperity Planning: Fellows will learn how to develop, refine, and implement Climate Prosperity Plans aligned with national goals and international commitments.
- Resilient Public Finance: Training will cover how to mobilize and manage domestic and international financing for climate and development projects, including the integration of climate risk into fiscal policy and budget planning.
- International Financial Architecture Reform: Participants will explore the structure and influence of global financial institutions, with a focus on shaping reforms that prioritize climate justice and resilience.
- Policy Negotiation & Diplomacy: Emphasis will be placed on building negotiation skills, especially in global climate finance and multilateral forums such as the IMF, World Bank, and COP.
- Leadership & Strategic Planning: Fellows will be equipped with skills in systems thinking, strategic communications, and political economy analysis to drive climate ambition within their countries.

Eligibility Criteria
The Fellowship is open to mid-career professionals who meet the following criteria:
- Nationality or residency in a V20 member country
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in relevant fields such as public finance, climate policy, economic development, international relations, or environmental planning
- Active involvement in the design or implementation of Climate Prosperity Plans or related national climate strategies
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing climate resilience and sustainable economic transformation
- Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken
