About SIHA
The Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA) is a feminist regional network founded in 1995. It operates across conflict and post-conflict zones in the Horn of Africa, working to strengthen the voice, visibility, and agency of women and girls. SIHA supports grassroots organizing, legal reform, and access to justice by addressing gender-based violence, discriminatory laws, political exclusion, and harmful cultural practices.
Through a combination of advocacy, research, capacity building, and direct programming, SIHA advances the rights of women and girls particularly those on the move and engages with national, regional, and international actors to promote gender equality and systemic change.
Role Summary: Resource Mobilization Associate (Remote)
SIHA is looking for a Remote Resource Mobilization Associate to support the organization’s fundraising, grant management, and donor engagement efforts. The ideal candidate will combine technical writing skills with a solid understanding of donor landscapes and funding cycles.
Reporting to the Regional Programme Manager, the associate will work closely with the Regional Director, Finance and Administration teams, and Country Coordinators. This role is remote-friendly, with potential travel to SIHA’s regional office in Kampala, Uganda.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Pipeline Management
- Maintain up-to-date donor mapping and monitor relevant funding trends.
- Track SIHA’s funding pipeline and identify new opportunities aligned with strategic priorities.
- Share regular updates with the program team to inform planning and outreach.
Proposal Development & Grant Writing
- Conduct background research to support the development of concept notes and full proposals.
- Coordinate inputs across departments to draft and refine funding documents.
- Ensure proposals adhere to donor guidelines and organizational standards.
Donor Engagement & Administration
- Assist in relationship management with current and prospective donors.
- Schedule donor meetings and prepare briefing materials, talking points, and follow-up documentation.
- Maintain an organized CRM or donor database, including timelines, contacts, and submission records.
Reporting, Documentation & Visibility
- Prepare internal resource mobilization reports summarizing funding progress.
- Document lessons learned from fundraising efforts to strengthen future strategies.
- Support donor-facing visibility efforts including case studies, success stories, and updates.
Logistical & Administrative Support
- Assist in planning and executing resource mobilization activities, including donor events or travel logistics.
- Help maintain template libraries and internal guidelines related to fundraising.
Success Metrics
- Timely updates to donor pipeline, accurate mapping of opportunities.
- On-time, high-quality submissions of proposals and concept notes.
- Strengthened and sustained donor relations.
- Organized and current records of all donor interactions and submissions.
- Clear documentation of lessons learned to inform future fundraising strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of proven experience in resource mobilization, grant writing, donor relations, or fundraising within the NGO/INGO sector.
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear, compelling proposals and conduct targeted funding research.
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems or donor databases is a plus.

- Contract Type: Full-time, 1-year (with 3-month probation)
- Location: Fully Remote or In-Person in Kampala, Uganda (with possible travel)
- Start Date: As soon as possible after selection
- Reporting Line: Regional Programme Manager
