Remote | Contract: 11 months | Deadline: 16 August 2025 (23:59 CET)

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), winner of the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize, is currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Consultant (Gaming) to join its Private Partnerships Division (PSP). This exciting role is fully remote, with potential duty travel, and plays a critical role in securing high-value, multi-year partnerships that align with WFP’s mission to achieve Zero Hunger globally.

WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency, working in over 120 countries and territories to deliver food assistance in emergencies and support people in rebuilding their lives after conflict, disasters, and climate shocks. The Private Partnerships Division is a vital engine for fundraising and innovation, enabling the organization to engage the private sector—corporates, foundations, and individuals—through impactful collaborations.

Purpose of the Assignment

The selected consultant will spearhead WFP’s outreach to the gaming sector, leveraging innovation, industry trends, and private-sector engagement to secure at least $1M+ in multi-year partnerships. The consultant will drive strategic business development by identifying, pitching, and negotiating partnerships that contribute meaningful funding and technical expertise to WFP operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tailored business development strategies for the gaming and entertainment sectors.
  • Identify and cultivate high-value private sector partnerships with a focus on innovation, funding, and long-term collaboration.
  • Create compelling value propositions and pitch materials to attract new partners aligned with WFP’s strategic goals.
  • Lead cold outreach and engagement with new prospects, while leveraging existing WFP networks and senior-level contacts.
  • Collaborate closely with technical and legal units to co-develop partner ‘products’, formalize agreements, and manage expectations.
  • Ensure a seamless handover of partnerships to the partnership management team.
  • Support WFP’s emergency fundraising efforts by engaging relevant prospects during crises.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report progress to internal stakeholders.
  • Represent WFP at global conferences and events to position the organization as a leading humanitarian partner.

Deliverables

By the end of the contract, the consultant is expected to:

  • Secure at least one multi-year, $1M+ partnership.
  • Complete a detailed landscape mapping of prospective gaming sector partners.
  • Develop actionable sector-specific business development strategies.
  • Deliver polished value propositions, pitches, and proposal materials for use in global markets.
  • Be fully “emergency ready” for immediate prospect engagement during crisis response efforts.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report performance against predefined KPIs.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A university degree in Game Studies, Marketing, International Development, Political Science, or a related field. An advanced degree or relevant certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in business development, partnerships, B2B sales, or fundraising—ideally within the gaming, media, or entertainment sectors.
  • Demonstrated success securing high-value partnerships and managing end-to-end partnership lifecycles.
  • Strong understanding of gaming industry dynamics and relevant partnership opportunities.
  • Experience working with or within UN agencies, international NGOs, or donor organizations is highly desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Must be fluent in English; knowledge of an additional UN language is advantageous.

Desired Attributes

  • Creative, entrepreneurial thinker with the ability to develop innovative partnership models.
  • Collaborative and people-focused, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly adaptable to ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity in international settings.

Why Join WFP?

  • Work for a global humanitarian leader with operations in 80+ countries.
  • Join a highly diverse, inclusive, and purpose-driven team.
  • Benefit from continuous learning, mentoring, and professional growth.
  • Contribute to solving one of the world’s greatest challenges: ending hunger.
