Green Hydrogen Internship Opportunity with GGGI – Kenya Country Program (Apply Before 05 August 2025)

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is seeking a driven and committed individual to join its Kenya Country Program as a Green Hydrogen Intern. The intern will provide essential operational and administrative support across multiple functions, including human resources, procurement, finance, event planning, and logistics. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to sustainable development efforts while gaining practical experience within a dynamic international organization.
The selected intern will report directly to the Head of the Kenya Program and collaborate with colleagues in the Finance & Corporate Services (FCS) department at both the regional and headquarters levels when necessary. The internship is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and will run for a period of three months, from September to November 2025.
About GGGI
GGGI is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization dedicated to fostering strong, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth in developing and emerging economies. It works across the public and private sectors to support green growth initiatives, with the overarching aim of helping countries achieve climate-resilient and low-carbon development.
Role and Responsibilities
The intern will support a variety of tasks critical to the effective functioning of the Kenya Country Program, including but not limited to:
- Assisting in onboarding new staff by preparing relevant documentation and coordinating logistical arrangements.
- Supporting the planning and execution of events such as meetings, seminars, and workshops.
- Coordinating event logistics, including vendor identification, procurement of quotations, and facilitation of vendor selection in alignment with GGGI policies.
- Managing event-related communications and logistics, including sending invitations, registering participants, and arranging travel and accommodation.
- Providing support during events, including note-taking, evaluation coordination, and post-event follow-up.
- Assisting with procurement planning and requisition processes, in accordance with the program’s annual work plan and budget.
- Supporting finance tasks such as invoice processing, vendor follow-up, and documentation.
- Performing general administrative duties, contributing to efficient office operations.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the internship, applicants must meet the following conditions at the time of application:
- Be enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s program, or be a current Master’s or PhD student, or have graduated within the past 12 months.
- Be studying in a field related to GGGI’s work, such as public administration, economics, or finance.
- Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Qualifications and Skills
- A solid understanding of or willingness to learn about public administration, finance, and green growth.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong interpersonal skills and an interest in international development, particularly in the African context.
Additional Information
- Duration: 3 months (September–November 2025)
- Location: Nairobi, Republic of Kenya
- Stipend: USD $500/month (unless covered by another institution)
- Visa: GGGI will issue a visa support letter; however, interns are responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary travel documentation.
- Travel and Insurance: Interns must arrange and finance their travel and must provide proof of valid medical insurance.
- Working Hours: Interns are expected to work during normal business hours. Leave must be approved in advance by the Internship Manager.
- Confidentiality: Interns are required to maintain strict confidentiality regarding any unpublished information obtained during the internship.
- Academic Credit: Interns may be eligible for academic credit through their university or academic institution.
- Certificate: A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
Selection Process
