Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) is Hiring: Digital Health Project Associate

Location: Kigali, Rwanda (in-person, with regular field visits to districts)
Contract Type: 5-month consultancy (renewable based on performance and project needs)

Position Overview

The Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) Rwanda is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Digital Health Project Associate. This position plays a vital role in the implementation of a silent trial exploring the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance patient outcomes within Rwanda’s community and primary healthcare systems.

The project aims to evaluate how AI-enabled decision support tools can be used by healthcare workers at the grassroots level to strengthen clinical decision-making and improve service delivery. The Digital Health Project Associate will be instrumental in coordinating field activities, supporting the training of project participants, overseeing patient enrollment, and maintaining high standards of data quality and compliance.

This role is well-suited for candidates with a strong interest in digital health innovation, applied health research, and hands-on project coordination, particularly in the Rwandan healthcare context.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Coordination and Field Implementation

• Support daily operations of the silent trial across multiple healthcare facilities and districts.
• Coordinate logistics related to the recruitment, training, and ongoing support of clinical participants.
• Supervise the patient enrollment process, ensuring informed consent is properly administered.
• Engage regularly with local healthcare authorities to ensure alignment with national policies and priorities.

2. Data Monitoring and Quality Assurance

• Monitor data collection in the field to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency, including the management of follow-up logs and audio recordings.
• Support the validation and quality control of multilingual datasets.
• Document and report any data inconsistencies or challenges to the technical and research teams for timely resolution.
• Ensure that all data handling adheres to ethical research practices and data protection regulations.

3. Reporting and Documentation

• Maintain organized records of field activities, operational challenges, and any mitigation strategies employed.
• Contribute to the development of weekly updates, internal briefings, and donor progress reports.
• Assist in preparing technical summaries, presentations, and implementation documentation for both local and international stakeholders.

4. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

• Liaise effectively with clinical supervisors, community health workers (CHWs), and partner institutions.
• Participate in planning sessions, review meetings, and coordination calls.
• Collect and communicate feedback from project participants and community members to inform continuous improvement of project strategies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, Healthcare Management, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience coordinating public health or digital health projects, preferably in Rwanda.
• Understanding of research ethics and familiarity with Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission processes.
• Familiarity with Rwanda’s healthcare system, particularly community health structures and CHW operations.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage complex tasks and competing priorities.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools.
• Fluency in both Kinyarwanda and English, in written and spoken forms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working with AI-based health technologies or health system innovations.
• Hands-on involvement in multisite clinical or observational trials.
• Capability to contribute to scientific and technical documents.
• Relevant certifications such as Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Human Subjects Protection, or Responsible Conduct of Research.
• A proactive mindset and enthusiasm for leveraging emerging technologies to address public health challenges.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently to field sites in rural districts.
