Program Overview
STEM for Development (SFD) invites applications from outstanding candidates in the Global South to be considered for nomination to the inaugural cohort of the fully funded, online Master’s in Data Science at Vedian College. This one-year graduate program is structured to provide academic and professional foundations in data science, artificial intelligence, and statistical analysis. Selected students will represent the first cohort of the program, playing a significant role in shaping its future trajectory.
Vedian College, a European online higher education provider, offers its degrees through Woolf University, an institution accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) and aligned with the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
Scholarship and Nomination Details
STEM for Development will nominate 5 to 10 exceptional students from the Global South to be considered for full tuition scholarships funded by Vedian College. This program begins on September 8, 2025, and will be delivered entirely online, making it accessible to students regardless of geographic location.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for nomination, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold (or be in the final year of) an undergraduate degree in STEM or quantitative disciplines from an accredited institution located in the Global South
- Possess a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 or equivalent academic distinction
- Demonstrate a strong interest in data science, AI, or statistical analysis through prior coursework, academic projects, internships, or self-directed learning
- Have proficiency in English (submission of standardized English test scores such as TOEFL or IELTS may be required at a later stage)
- Final-year students expecting to graduate by summer 2026 may also be considered
Program Accreditation and Degree Recognition
Degrees are awarded through Woolf University, which is recognized by MFHEA. This accreditation aligns with the EHEA and ensures that the qualifications are recognized across Europe and in various other regions, including Canada, the U.S., South Africa, and Australia. Applicants should verify local recognition depending on their future educational or career plans.

- Initial Review: SFD will screen submissions and conduct interviews between August 1–17, 2025
- Final Review: Selected candidates will be invited to complete a full application with Vedian College. The college may conduct additional interviews before making final admission decisions
