Indigenous Peoples Rights International (IPRI) is inviting applications for the position of Advocacy Coordinator focused on the United Nations and private sector engagement. This is a unique opportunity to join a global Indigenous-led organization working to defend Indigenous Peoples from criminalization, violence, and impunity. The Advocacy Coordinator will play a key leadership role in advancing Indigenous rights on the international stage and within corporate accountability mechanisms.

About IPRI

IPRI is a global Indigenous-led human rights organization working to address and prevent the systemic criminalization and violence targeting Indigenous Peoples defending their lands, territories, and ways of life. Through the Global Initiative to Address and Prevent Criminalization, Violence, and Impunity, IPRI partners with Indigenous organizations, civil society, and allies to demand justice, ensure accountability, and uphold Indigenous self-determination.

Operating as both an advocacy and movement-support organization, IPRI strategically engages with human rights mechanisms, multilateral bodies, and corporate actors to amplify Indigenous voices and challenge the systems that perpetuate harm.

About the Role: Advocacy Coordinator

The Advocacy Coordinator will lead and manage IPRI’s advocacy work with United Nations human rights mechanisms and private sector accountability platforms. This position requires a highly motivated and experienced professional to develop and implement strategies, coordinate teams, and represent IPRI in high-level forums.

  • Team Supervision
Coordinate, mentor, and guide IPRI’s advocacy team, ensuring objectives are met with clarity, timeliness, and impact.
  • Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, non-governmental organizations, government bodies, corporate actors, and investors. Ensure alignment of advocacy objectives with movement needs and global standards.
  • Content Development
Draft and coordinate high-quality written outputs such as UN submissions, advocacy statements, case briefs, and thematic reports related to criminalization, land rights, and corporate accountability.
  • Representation and External Relations
Represent IPRI in UN forums, civil society coalitions, working groups, and relevant international and regional networks. Work closely with the communications team to increase public awareness and advocacy reach.
  • Resource Mobilization and Strategy
Contribute to fundraising efforts, assist with proposal writing, and participate in organizational strategy development and decision-making processes.

Essential qualifications include:
