Role Overview
GBL is currently seeking a Communications Associate to join its Marketing & Communications team. This individual will be responsible for managing GBL’s social media presence, developing project-specific communications, and supporting the organization’s external brand voice. The ideal candidate will be a strategic storyteller who can distill complex research into compelling narratives across digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
1. Social Media Management
- Execute and manage an editorial calendar across LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube
- Draft, schedule, and publish engaging posts spotlighting research insights, events, and partnerships
- Respond to messages and comments, engaging in relevant conversations on behalf of GBL
- Track and report on engagement and reach metrics, using insights to refine strategy
2. Project-Focused Content Development
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop clear and concise communication collateral
- Write and edit blog posts, case studies, and impact reports translating research into accessible content
- Align all project content with GBL’s brand voice and communication objectives
3. Brand & Communication Support
- Uphold brand consistency across all public-facing materials
- Provide proofreading support and assist in layout checks for both digital and print assets
- Support the creation of newsletters, media alerts, and other ad hoc materials
Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 2 years of professional experience in communications, journalism, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience managing social media for nonprofits, research organizations, or social enterprises
- Strong writing and editorial skills with the ability to tailor tone across formats and audiences
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Familiarity with social media performance tools and analytics
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related discipline
