The DAAD Brussels Office is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Officer to support the coordination and implementation of the European Digital Education Hub (EDEH). This role focuses specifically on managing the Higher Education Interoperability (HE IO) working group. The position is offered under the EU-funded framework contract that supports the EDEH initiative, a central platform for innovation and collaboration in digital education across Europe.
The successful candidate will work at the intersection of project coordination, policy engagement, and stakeholder communication within a highly dynamic international environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation (65%)
- Daily Coordination of HE IO Working Group
The Project Officer will take lead responsibility for managing the HE IO working group. This includes working closely with a senior team member from a partner organisation to ensure effective delivery of outputs and coordination across stakeholders. - Stakeholder Engagement & Communications
Liaise proactively with consortium partners, subcontractors, and members of the HE IO working group. Maintain active communication through dedicated MS Teams channels and online meetings with stakeholders, including the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and the European Commission (DG EAC). - Meeting Management & Reporting
Organise and co-chair internal meetings, draft agendas, record minutes, and coordinate follow-ups. Contribute to periodic reports and ensure accurate documentation of progress, challenges, and achievements. Independently manage reporting routines related to HE IO tasks. - Workshops and Events
Plan, prepare, and facilitate both online and in-person workshops and events related to higher education interoperability. Prepare agendas, presentations (PowerPoint, MS Whiteboard), briefing materials, and information packs. Collaborate with the Project Assistant on logistics and technical support. - Content Creation & Dissemination
Draft short articles, summaries, and one-pagers for publication on the EDEH platform and the European Education Area (EEA) portal. Promote key outputs of the HE IO working group across relevant communication channels. - Broader EDEH Task Involvement
The Project Officer will gradually take on additional EDEH-related responsibilities, under the guidance of the Head of Unit for EU Projects and the EDEH Project Manager.
Business Development (35%)
- EU Policy Monitoring
Stay informed on developments in digital education policy at the European level, particularly the EU Digital Education Action Plan, the European Universities Initiative, and strategies for 2030. - Representation & External Engagement
Represent DAAD and the EDEH initiative at conferences, policy forums, and other external events as required. - Proposal Development & Evaluation
Support the Brussels Office in drafting new project proposals and contributing to internal monitoring and evaluation activities.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant academic degree and a minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience in EU project management or digital education policy.
- Proven ability to independently manage complex projects and multi-stakeholder processes.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal, in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
- Experience with EU institutions, frameworks, or programs is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in digital tools such as MS Teams, SharePoint, and presentation software.
