Position Overview
Sustainable Carbon Group is recruiting a Senior Environmental Consultant to lead carbon project development, climate risk assessments, and sustainability reporting. This Cairo-based position is ideal for a candidate with over a decade of experience in environmental consultancy, particularly within carbon markets and climate risk. The successful candidate will work on international climate initiatives, including compliance projects under frameworks like the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and propose new carbon project opportunities, including conducting pre-feasibility studies.
- Prepare technical documentation such as Project Descriptions (PDs) and Monitoring Reports (MRs) in accordance with VCS, Gold Standard, and ISO protocols.
- Lead carbon analysis and emissions reporting aligned with international standards and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Conduct climate risk assessments using globally recognised frameworks such as TCFD, CSRD, and EU ETS.
- Oversee audit processes, third-party verifications, and field assessments to ensure project transparency and integrity.
- Present complex environmental data and concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support the business development team by providing technical input and preparing materials such as communication packs and case studies.
- Utilise digital platforms to streamline data analysis, project reporting, and operational efficiency.
Candidate Profile
- Holds at least a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Has a minimum of ten years’ experience in environmental consultancy with a focus on carbon management and climate risk.
- Demonstrates familiarity with key regulatory frameworks, including the EU ETS, CSRD, and related international standards.
- Possesses strong expertise in carbon accounting, ESG reporting, and project documentation.
- Has prior experience with United Nations projects or similarly structured international initiatives (preferred but not required).
- Is fluent in both English and Arabic; Portuguese is an additional asset.
- Exhibits excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Is proactive, adaptable, and committed to professional development and continuous learning.
