Call for Projects 2025: UEFA Foundation for Children Invites Applications Until 1 August 2025

The UEFA Foundation for Children has officially opened its 2025 Call for Projects, welcoming applications from organisations whose initiatives align with the Foundation’s mission to support vulnerable and disadvantaged children around the world. The submission deadline for all project proposals is 1 August 2025.
Each year, the UEFA Foundation for Children identifies and supports impactful projects that contribute to the well-being and development of children. Through its annual call, the Foundation invites NGOs, non-profits, and other relevant entities to present project proposals that address key areas of concern affecting children globally. Selected projects will receive funding, guidance, and potential long-term partnership opportunities with the Foundation.
Mission and Areas of Focus
The UEFA Foundation for Children was established to use the power of sport—particularly football—as a catalyst for positive change in the lives of children. The Foundation’s mission encompasses several priority areas:
- Health: Promoting physical and mental well-being among children through access to healthcare, medical services, and health education.
- Education: Supporting formal and informal education programmes that empower children and open opportunities for their future.
- Access to Sport: Facilitating access to safe, inclusive, and structured sporting activities as a tool for development and social integration.
- Personal Development: Encouraging self-confidence, leadership, teamwork, and resilience through sport and education-based programmes.
- Integration of Minorities: Advancing social inclusion and equal opportunities for children from minority or marginalised communities.
- Protection of Children’s Rights: Upholding the fundamental rights of children, including safety, shelter, and freedom from abuse or exploitation.
Implementation Through Sport
To fulfil its objectives, the Foundation supports and implements programmes that place football and sport at the core of their approach. Projects can be executed directly by the Foundation or through collaborations with external organisations. By leveraging sport as a universal language, the Foundation fosters environments where children can thrive, regardless of their socio-economic background or geographic location.
In addition to working with sport-based development initiatives, the Foundation may also provide support to projects that align with broader humanitarian or development goals. These collaborations may include advisory support, direct funding, or strategic partnerships with organisations sharing similar missions.
Humanitarian and Emergency Aid
The UEFA Foundation for Children also plays a vital role in responding to crises. It has the authority to offer emergency assistance and humanitarian aid in response to natural disasters, conflict situations, or other urgent needs affecting children. This can be done independently or in collaboration with other humanitarian actors. Such emergency actions are facilitated through exceptional decision-making provisions outlined in the Foundation’s statutes.
Project Evaluation and Selection Process
All submitted projects undergo a rigorous evaluation process conducted by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. The board may consult external experts or specialists to assess the feasibility, impact, and alignment of proposals with the Foundation’s goals. This thorough vetting ensures that only the most effective and relevant initiatives receive funding and support.
Final funding decisions will be made during the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees. However, in exceptional circumstances—particularly those involving emergency response—the Foundation’s governing documents allow for decisions to be taken outside the regular framework, enabling a rapid and flexible response.
How to Apply
Interested organisations must submit their project proposals through the official application portal by 1 August 2025. Projects should clearly demonstrate how they align with one or more of the Foundation’s thematic priorities and how sport will be used as a tool for development or humanitarian impact.
Detailed guidelines, eligibility criteria, and application instructions can be found on the official UEFA Foundation for Children website.
By supporting innovative and impactful projects worldwide, the UEFA Foundation for Children continues to champion the rights and well-being of children—using the power of football to bring hope, opportunity, and change where it is most needed.
