Call for Applications: SVRI Forum 2026 Young Professionals Programme (YPP)

Deadline: 31 July 2025 at 23:59 SAST
Location: SVRI Forum 2026, Bangkok, Thailand
The Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) is now accepting applications for the Young Professionals Programme (YPP), a unique opportunity to support early-career professionals in the fields of research and practice related to violence against women, violence against children, and intersecting forms of gender-based violence.
This initiative aims to strengthen the capacity, visibility, and leadership of emerging researchers and practitioners by equipping them with the skills and confidence to participate meaningfully in global events such as SVRI Forum 2026.
What’s New in 2026
For the first time, the YPP will include a pre-abstract mentoring phase, allowing participants to receive early support before the Forum’s formal abstract submission process opens. A small cohort of 4 to 6 participants will be selected to benefit from intensive mentoring from experienced professionals within SVRI’s global network.
Programme Benefits
Selected participants will:
- Receive tailored mentorship to develop a competitive abstract, including support on framing, methodology, analysis, and recommendations.
- Be guided through the SVRI Forum 2026 abstract submission process.
- Be supported in preparing a clear, compelling presentation if accepted to present at the Forum.
- Attend SVRI Forum 2026 in Bangkok with all costs covered through a bursary, regardless of whether their abstract is accepted.
- Build connections with mentors, peers, and stakeholders across sectors and geographies.
Why Early Engagement Matters
The pre-abstract mentoring model provides:
- Stronger support for abstract development and submission.
- Greater visibility for early-career professionals from underrepresented regions.
- A foundation for delivering impactful, well-prepared presentations at the Forum.
- A safe, empowering space for learning and professional growth.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be aged 35 years or younger (born in 1990 or later).
- Be engaged in work related to a theme of SVRI Forum 2026.
- Commit to submitting an abstract to SVRI Forum 2026.
- Not have previously participated in the YPP.
How to Apply
All applications must be submitted via Oxford Abstracts. Applicants will be asked to submit a short “pre-abstract” describing the work they hope to present at SVRI Forum 2026.
Access the application portal through the SVRI website.
Please note that applications submitted via email will not be accepted.
Application deadline: 31 July 2025, 23:59 SAST
