Empowering Women Through Education: MMEG Grants for 2025–2026 Now Open

The Margaret McNamara Education Grants (MMEG) is now inviting applications from exceptional women students from developing countries who are committed to using their education to better the lives of women and children in their communities. MMEG offers education grants to women pursuing degrees at accredited universities in South Africa, the US and Canada, and Trinity Washington University, among others.
With a legacy grounded in supporting transformational leadership through education, MMEG provides more than just financial assistance—it offers women the opportunity to become part of a global network of changemakers.
General Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for any of the MMEG programs, applicants must:
- Identify as women and be at least 25 years old at the time of the application deadline.
- Be nationals of a developing country as listed by MMEG (except for the Trinity Washington University Program).
- Be currently registered (not just accepted) at an accredited in-person academic institution. Online-only programs are not eligible.
- Be enrolled in at least one full academic semester following the grant award.
- Expect to graduate within three years of receiving the grant.
- Not be related to staff or retirees of the World Bank Group, IMF, Inter-American Development Bank, or MMEG Board Members.
- Complete the full application and be available for an interview in the language appropriate to the program (English, French, or Spanish).
MMEG Grant Programs and Deadlines
1. South Africa Program
- Application period: May 15 – September 14 (11:59 PM EST)
- Notification: December 2025

Additional Requirements:
- Applicants must already be enrolled full-time or part-time (at least 2 courses per semester) at one of the eligible South African universities.
- Must study at least one semester after the award (January–July).
- Must hold a valid South African study permit if not a South African national.
- All financial estimates should be in South African Rand (ZAR).
2. US-Canada Program
- Application period: September 15 – January 15 (11:59 PM EST)
- Notification: April 2026

Additional Requirements:
- Applicants must be enrolled full-time at an eligible academic institution in the US or Canada.
- Must hold a valid student visa (e.g., Form I-20 for US).
- Applicants must not hold US or Canadian citizenship or permanent residency (Green Card/landed immigrant status).
3. Trinity Washington University Program
- Application period: September 15 – January 15 (11:59 PM EST)
- Notification: April 2026

Additional Requirements:
- Open to international and domestic students.
- Applicants must be enrolled full-time or part-time (at least 2 courses per term) at Trinity Washington University.
- Must plan to remain enrolled for at least one more academic semester after the award.
- Must not be related to Trinity staff.
4. Latin America Program

Application Process and Requirements
Each program has a strict deadline and requires full documentation, as outlined in the Application Checklist. Incomplete applications or missing documentation will lead to automatic disqualification.

Applicants must ensure that all materials are complete and submitted before the deadline. The application portal will only show programs that are currently open. If a program does not appear, it is not accepting new applications.
